Series Event Introduction

Design Home launched The Wonderland Series limited-time event today and it’s quite a treat for us DH designers.

Many of you have probably seen the original animated film adaptation of the book, released in 1951. Now you can indulge your inner child by entering whimsical and fun design challenges. Complete with new Wonderland inspired collections of limited-time decor, this event will have you diving down the rabbit hole!

Sorry, I love puns! I want to be clear though, I’m a big fan of the game, but I am not being paid to write this. I only want to share my excitement for this new event.

Read on for more details about what a series event is, and for my take on this series event.

Series Events Explained

If you aren’t a seasoned DH designer, the vast number and variety of challenges can be confusing and daunting. However, it‘s quite easy to catch on, and this crash course should help. Check back with me soon for the current beginner's guide I’m working on, and in-depth tricks and tips on playing Design Home!

What are series events?

Series events are limited-time design challenges that are based on a central theme, and lots of limited-time decor items. They typically run for a few days to a week. While these challenges offer unique designing spaces and fabulous decor items, there’s a nice bonus prize bundle too.

There are typically 6 challenges in each event, and you only have to complete 4 challenges to earn series prizes.Challenges also offer decor packs for real life in-app purchases that range from about $1.99-$3.99 USD. 2 packs run consecutively, although a 3rd decor pack usually appears in the latter half of the event. The 3rd pack typically replaces one of the first two packages, but all limited-time decor is available for individual purchase in the store, for the entirety of the event. There are also select decor items that aren't in the packs but are available for individual purchase.

That's all there is to it, see, you are already a more informed DH designer! As a reminder, if you are struggling or frustrated with the app, keep an eye out for other DH articles from me shortly.

The Wonderland Series Event

In this exciting new series, Design Home starts off with a bang, or rather a bold splash of color and a wonderful variety of limited-time decor. I’ve included a picture of the decor packs for sale below, but keep in mind, there’s more available for individual purchase in the store.

The decor items range from chic to offbeat in this collection. Several items are sleek, high-concept art pieces that would serve many future design challenges well, long after they are gone from the store.

Other items feature bold usage of color, particularly the Queen‘s rose red, sans the sloppy paint cover-up. Good thing too, we wouldn’t want any heads to roll!

The current offerings round out nicely with some fanciful and curious pieces. You’ll find playfully shaped topiaries, a few adorable rabbit tabletop decorations, and a rather mad looking tea set.

I am very excited about this event, but I understand it can be frustrating to play if you don’t want to pay real money to get items like this. Keep an eye out for my upcoming articles about this game, as I have some tips about how to make the most of the game currency and how to avoid paying real money if you don’t want to just to enter a challenge.

So What’s Next in this Event Series?

I wish I could say I had some inside information but I don’t. However, I can confidently say we are certainly going to see another decor collection rolled out in a few days. We will likely also lose one of the current collection packs available to purchase when that happens.

As far as what colors and themes the next collection will be, it's anybody's guess. We already have some Queen related items, some rabbit items, and a little Mad Hatter tea party item. I think the Regal Red pack will stay and the Enchanted Wonderland will be replaced with the third collection. Then again, that could just be wishful thinking on my part, as past series packs typically trade out the more colorful packs. My theory is worth considering though, as the hot-tempered Queen isn't done with Alice yet.

The next collection’s color(s) and theme(s) may be bit less obvious. I hope to see something related to the Cheshire Cat and the Caterpillar, but most items will likely err on the side of tasteful, not tacky. I imagine we will see items that are inspired by scenes and characters, rather than depictions of the characters, at least not outside of kid's room decor and toys. I’m thinking maybe lots of jewel tones? Maybe some wall art that shows abstract colored smoke (because I seriously doubt the developers would include an obvious hookah item)? Maybe even a few of the flowers and/or the cheshire cat’s grin incorporated in wall art or rugs?

No matter what the rest of the event has in store, it will undoubtedly be magical.Check back for my updates on this challenge, and for my general guides and tips coming soon.
