Diablo 3 Expansion Ideas and Speculation

Updated on June 5, 2012

Diablo 3 was one of the most anticipated games for many years, and it has finally been released to be incredibly successful. When the game was first released, there were many server issues, people getting errors daily and glitches galore. Almost a month later, most kinks have been sorted out and for the most part people are happily able to play for hours on end. The game was fun, addicting and it looked very nice – but now what is everyone waiting for? An even better expansion! People are speculating that there will be more plots with Imperius or even Adria, but who knows?

One thing that I think would be really awesome is if they brought back Deckard Cain from the dead as a villain. I feel like Deckard was not really used much in the main game and I was expecting to see him at least make it till the end of the game. He was killed off so quick in my opinion. He was the only “main” character in the whole series besides Diablo. I think that would make an awesome twist to bring back ghost Deckard who is now an enemy.

Another thing that would be interesting is if somehow they brought back all of the old classes from Diablo 2 and made them bosses. I thought the classes in Diablo 2 were really memorable, and maybe not bring back all of them, but I definitely think that if they brought some back, like the Necromancer and the Amazon, it would be really exciting to have to battle them.

The allies in Diablo 3 could also have much more detailed back stories by having their own Act. The Templar, the Enchantress and the Scoundrel were pretty funny characters and they always had a lot to say, so maybe they would have interesting back stories to play through.

One thing that I hope they do, is add a new landscape to the expansion. Something that is so out of the ordinary, like a beach or some sort of nice grassland. Something that isn’t too dark for a change. I know they have had deserts, but a beach with nice palm trees and an ocean would be really intriguing. Not sure how they would tie it in with the setting of Diablo, but it would sure be nice to look at for a change! I feel like it could be a setting for either Covetous Shen or even the Templar, who could have lived in a nice beach town before he became a warrior and had a nice family in a nice location.

Either way, I think that the expansion will be awesome and I am just happy that the actual game has finally been released for all to enjoy. I hope that the expansion will be great, but either way I will look forward to it along with everyone else who loves this game series. I feel like the expansion won’t be out for another 10 years, but let’s just hope that we see it within the next 2 years at most. Blizzard knows how to make their fans wait, but for the most part it is always worth the wait!

Haha yes, the beach is a bit out there, but it's just a thought! And I can imagine that we will be in for a big wait, sadly!

Having an expansion on a beautiful beach would definitely be a little out of the ordinary. If anyone could pull it off, it's Blizzard. But I agree, we probably won't see an expansion for at least a few years. Blizzard's CEO said in an interview that they plan on releasing the first expansion pack for D3 3 years after its release.
