Dishonored Trilogy

Updated on September 11, 2017

The end of a era, the end of the assassin

Dishonored has been a one of a kind game series. It has been announced that the Dishonored series is going to end with Dishonored: Death of the Outsider. This means the trilogy will be concluded. There is a possibility the series may come back, but this will be a fresh new take with different characters and story.

The first Dishonored game was a mind blowing, astonishing masterpiece. A game like this had never been done before. A first person, stealth, assassin game with magic, carton influenced graphics and duel wielding sword and pistol. As soon as the trailer came out you knew this was going to be something special and by the assassin gods it was.

Dishonored may only have nine mission, but you decided how much you wanted to do, how much time you were going to spend and how you were going to complete the mission. Would you look around and see what would help? Who? What? There is always side quests in each mission and these helped you to complete your goal and made it easier. This would also extend the play time significantly if you completed the side quests in every mission. But if not it's still amazing to try and complete the missions the hard way. Whether that's taking your time for stealth or running in all sword and pistol blazing.

Dishonored 2

The second one was very much the same, this had the added bonus of a grown up Emily who you can play as. Emily has different powers supplied to her by the Outsider. During levels this enables you to choice to either play as Emily or Corvo. This allows you a scene of freedom, choice and planning about how your going to complete the mission.

Again Dishonored 2 only has nine missions. But the principles are the same, the time length is the players choice and how much they want to do. The side quest are there for the taking and development of the level. The players choice is a crucial part of Dishonored and with how the player want to proceed.

With the addition or the new enemies, story, mechanics, powers etc Dishonored 2 does feels very different to its predecessor and that a good thing. Although the story continues on from the previous game it feels a whole lot different because of the new environment and world.

With the ending of Dishonored 2, we are now being lead to Dishonored: Death of the Outsider. Which is the last in the trilogy and opens up new branches and opportunists.

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider

We do not really know much about the Outsider, expect he grants a chosen few with powers and enables them to cause devastation. Hopefully we will be thrilled with his story and learn all about him. The main questions we want answering are: where does he come from? Who is he? How did he get his powers? Why does he grant people with powers?

Death of the Outside will be about two other character that were in a DLC for the original Dishonored. We know little about them too, but i'm sure we will learn more. Death of the Outsider could potential be very different as we do not know if the main characters will have powers. Maybe they are trying to kill the outside because he did not grant them power. We just don't know at this stage.

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider is the last in the Corvo/Emily trilogy. There could be another Dishonored game in years to come but the characters, story and environment will be different. But until we know more, we must wait for Dishonored: Death of the Outside in anticipation.
