Dungeon Siege 3 Defeating the Maru-yatum

In dungeon siege 3, defeating the maru-yatum is essential in rallying the First people of the swamp behind the Legionnaires as they seek to overthrow the oppression of Ehb. However, defeating the maru-yatum at hardcore level is no easy feat.

First the hero must get past the tons of First People warriors before reaching the maru-yatum. The maru-yatum is the high shaman of the First People, otherwise known as the people of the swamp, and who originally were the first in Ehb. These first people warriors can cause massive damage and summon dakkenweyr monsters to their cause, who in turn can cause massive lingering persistent ranged attack damage. It may be worthwhile bringing Lucas Montbarren to fight alongside Anjali for this fight, especially with him being a tank and having about 10 plus levels at this point.

Dungeon Siege 3 Tactics against the Maru-yatum

Eventually the heroes or party will reach a rooftop with about three cages around the periphery of the rooftop (of a huge tree), containing the royalist soldiers. Go in a counterclockwise movement and free the soldiers from their cages; they will help with the fight.

The Maru-yatum is located at the centre of the rooftop, and will cast some kind of a tangling bolts of vine lightning spell that will cause unsurprisingly lots of damage. It is imperative to avoid these bolts at all cause. Other than that, it's a matter of advancing towards the maru-yatum, and either causing massive melee damage yourself or if using Anjali, dropping auras of immolation in the vicinity of the maru-yatum, and allowing the lingering fire damage to defeat the maru-yarum.

Dungeon Siege 3 Rewards for Defeating the Maru-Yatum

The rewards for defeating the maru-yatum are many, one of which is to progress in the game, as the maru-yatum will now reward the hero with the necessary ingredients to allow the roots of the swamp to part, and allow the hero to reach Stonebridge.

The Staff of the First People will be handed to the hero as well, and this is very useful Anjali, and someone who want to build a poison chaos optimized character build for Anjali. Also the first people will pledge their allegiance (of sorts) to the Legionnaires' cause, and one can purchase some legendary items (including a Seck Curseplate for Lucas Montbarren).
