Facebook's The Vampire Diaries Get Sucked In -- I Feel Like I've Been Robbed
A Big Thumbs Down To Chapter 2 Act 1
I just finished up Chapter 2 Act 1 of Facebook's The Vampire Diaries: Get Sucked In and I've got a bad taste in my mouth. To complete the tasks, the items couldn't be found in the game, and I was forced to pay gold coins to purchase items to complete the tasks.
I tried to complete the Summer Flower Collection by searching through the regenerating fog areas but in those areas not one of the Summer Flowers showed up as a prize for successfully completing a trivia or Mystic Pix game. Just the same old things that appeared from Chapter One. And the two Summer Flowers I did get came from the game area where you complete tasks. So I figured I wasn't going to ever find them unless I paid 48 gold coins to complete the collection and unlock the Bare Tree in The Cemetery area.
Maybe someone else was able to complete the Summer Flower collection and if I kept going through the regenerating fog areas again and again and again for weeks, they would have came up, and I've judged the game unfairly on that instance. If so, then I apologize for my unwarranted criticism on that part. But there is one area I know for sure that they did absolutely force you to purchase items to complete a task or remain forever stuck in that part of the game. It was the game task where you had to find three items in the Salvatore basement. I uncovered every square in the basement and they only provide you with one item and you have to pay 6 gold coins to get the two remaining items and complete the task.
I'm sure everyone is thinking that it's only 54 cents, but if 1,000,000 players play the game, the makers of this game will have made $540,000.00 for themselves. Now that .54 cents doesn't seem so little. And I feel every person that has played this game has literally had a gun held to their head as the makers of this game forced them to cough up their .54 cents to complete tasks in this game that should have been included in the game for free.
I have no problem with being given the option to use gold coins to complete a task if you don't want to take the time to keep clearing the fog until the right item comes up. But you weren't being given an option. You were being told to pay up or else. And the else was being stuck in a particular part of the game without any hope of going forward unless you forked over some money to do it.
As I said before, maybe someone was able to find the Summer Flower Collection in the regenerating fog area, when they only appeared in the game areas with the clear octagons that you had to clear to find items to complete a task. But they definitely forced you to do it in the task in the Salvatore basement. What type of game is it you can't complete a game task by simply playing the game and instead you have to pay money to complete a task. In Monopoly they don't make you take money out of your own pocket before you're allowed to pass Go and collect $200, and that's basically what the makers of this game are doing. Unless you fork out gold coins to them you can't pass Go and collect $200.
The thing is, if they've done this in Chapter 2 Act 1, I imagine with each new chapter it's just going to get worse and worse. That's why I won't continue to play it. It's got all the money I intend to give it. There's just no fun in having to bribe a game to allow me to finish an assigned task and not being able to finish it by simply playing the game.
For me, this game now gets a very big thumbs down! It's too bad, because it was a cute little game to play, until it decided to jack players for money just to play it.
