It’s not just the vault that’s important in Fallout Shelter. Rooms are also important!

Rooms are the essential units that make up the whole vault. Without them, the vault would be as good as nothing. It won’t be a livable shelter at all! The rooms and their different functions keep everyone safe and happy. That’s why a certain degree of knowledge about them is required to become an overseer.

Do you want to be an overseer? Well, you’ve got no choice! If you want to protect everyone from the harsh elements of the wastelands and ensure survival for humanity, then this Fallout Shelter rooms guide will serve as your all-essential manual for your post-apocalyptic quest.

Fallout Shelter Rooms

1. Vault Door

Unlock Condition: Available from the Beginning

Category: Miscellaneous

Attribute: None

Description: The Vault Door is the only entrance/exit of the vault. It is the vault’s primary defense mechanism against attackers such as raiders and ghouls.

2. Elevator

Unlock Condition: Available from the Beginning

Category: Miscellaneous

Attribute: None

Description: The Elevator connects rooms from floor to floor. Without it, building the vault towards deeper depths won’t be possible.

3. Living Quarters

Unlock Condition: Available from the Beginning

Category: Capacity

Attribute: Charisma

Description: The Living Quarters increases the capacity of the vault to hold dwellers. The more Living Quarters you have, the more dwellers you can admit from the wastelands. Also, the Living Quarters allows your dwellers to procreate and make babies.

4. Power Generator

Unlock Condition: Available from the Beginning

Category: Production

Attribute: Strength

Description: The Power Generator produces much-needed power for the vault. Essentially, power harvested from it is used to power the whole vault. No power means no production, so be sure to build a lot of them.

5. Diner

Unlock Condition: Available from the Beginning

Category: Production

Attribute: Agility

Description: The Diner is the main source of food for the dwellers of the vault. Food keeps everyone full and happy. And when you have full and happy dwellers, you have productive dwellers.

6. Water Treatment

Unlock Condition: Available from the Beginning

Category: Production

Attribute: Perception

Description: The Water Treatment Room provides everyone in the vault a clean source of water. Unfiltered water is treated in this room and delivered to dwellers for safe use and drinking.

7. Storage Room

Unlock Condition: Have 12 Dwellers in your Vault

Category: Capacity

Attribute: Endurance

Description: The Storage Room increases the capacity of the vault to store weapons, armors, and items.

8. Medbay

Unlock Condition: Have 14 Dwellers in your Vault

Category: Production

Attribute: Intelligence

Description: The Medbay is the production center of Stimpaks that can heal all kinds of wounds.

9. Science Lab

Unlock Condition: Have 16 Dwellers in your Vault

Category: Production

Attribute: Intelligence

Description: The Science Lab is the production center of RadAways that can effectively eliminate dangerous radiation from the body.

10. Overseer’s Office

Unlock Condition: Have 18 Dwellers in your Vault

Attribute: None

Description: The Overseer’s Office makes it possible for dwellers to undertake quests outside of the vault.

11. Radio Studio

Unlock Condition: Have 20 Dwellers in your Vault

Category: Production

Attribute: Charisma

Description: The Radio Studio keeps dwellers happy and sends-out messages to attract new dwellers from the wastelands.

12. Weapon Workshop

Unlock Condition: Have 22 Dwellers in your Vault

Description: The Weapon Workshop is the room designated for crafting weapons for dwellers.

13. Weight Room

Unlock Condition: Have 24 Dwellers in your Vault

Category: Training

Attribute: Strength

Description: The Weight Room is a training room that linearly increases the “Strength” SPECIAL stat of a dweller.

14. Athletics Room

Unlock Condition: Have 26 Dwellers in your Vault

Attribute: Agility

Description: The Athletics Room is a training room that linearly increases the “Agility” SPECIAL stat of a dweller.

15. Armory

Description: The Armory is a training room that linearly increases the “Perception” SPECIAL stat of a dweller.

16. Classroom

Description: The Classroom is a training room that linearly increases the “Intelligence” SPECIAL stat of a dweller.

17. Outfit Workshop

Description: The Outfit Workshop is the room designated for crafting outfits for dwellers.

18. Fitness Room

Unlock Condition: Have 35 Dwellers in your Vault

Category: Training

Attribute: Endurance

Description: The Fitness Room is a training room that linearly increases the “Endurance” SPECIAL stat of a dweller.

19. Lounge

Unlock Condition: Have 40 Dwellers in your Vault

Attribute: Charisma

Description: The Lounge is a training room that linearly increases the “Charisma” SPECIAL stat of a dweller.

20. Theme Workshop

Unlock Condition: Have 42 Dwellers in your Vault

Description: The Theme Workshop is the room designated for crafting themes for certain rooms.

21. Game Room

Unlock Condition: Have 45 Dwellers in your Vault

Category: Training

Attribute: Luck

Description: The Game Room is a training room that linearly increases the “Luck” SPECIAL stat of a dweller.

22. Barbershop

Unlock Condition: Have 50 Dwellers in your Vault

Category: Miscellaneous

Attribute: Charisma

Description: The Barbershop is the room designated for altering the overall appearance of a dweller.

23. Nuclear Reactor

Unlock Condition: Have 60 Dwellers in your Vault

Category: Production

Attribute: Strength

Description: The Nuclear Reactor works the same as a Power Generator except that it yields and stores more power.

24. Garden

Unlock Condition: Have 70 Dwellers in your Vault

Category: Production

Attribute: Agility

Description: The Garden works the same as a Diner except that it yields and stores more food.

25. Water Purification

Unlock Condition: Have 80 Dwellers in your Vault

Category: Production

Attribute: Perception

Description: The Water Purification Room works the same as a Water Treatment Room except that it yields and stores more purified water.

26. Nuka-Cola Bottler

Unlock Condition: Have 100 Dwellers in your Vault

Category: Production

Attribute: Endurance

Description: The Nuka-Cola Bottler is a multi-purpose production room that provides both food and water. At end-game, it can replace all the Diners, Gardens, Water Treatment Rooms, and Water Purification Rooms in the vault.
