Fast And Furious Diecast Cars

Updated on November 10, 2015

What are The Fast and The Furious Diecast?

FnF diecasts are model replicas of vehicles used in The Fast and The Furious franchise. Currently, there are over 20 different models produced from four various toy manufacturers – namely, Racing Champions (sometimes referred to as RC), ERTL, Joyride, Greenlight, Revell, Johnny Lightning, and Hotwheels.

What to expect from this Fast and Furious article –

Since this hub will be quite long, here’s a short summary of what a reader will expect from its contents:

  • Movie car replicas from movies 1 to 6 (the 7th installment is yet to be shown in theaters)
  • Some of the diecasts featured here are part of my personal FnF collection (even the model of the car used by rapper JA Rule)
  • Toy models will be categorized by maker for easy reference and navigation
  • Where and how to acquire the particular diecast
  • Lots of photos

Fast and Furious Trivia

The Fast and Furious franchise started with the main theme of illegal street racing that slowly transitioned to complex heists.

Many of the films revolved around the lives of Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and Brian O'Connor (Paul Walker)

There are currently six films released under this franchise with a 7th one to be shown on 2015

Racing Champions Fast and Furious Diecast –

Let us start with toy manufacturer Racing Champions since this company has produced the most number of FnF movie car replicas.

RC (also known as RC2) has produced 11 wave (or series) of The Fast and Furious model cars with each wave not lower than 5 models.

Below are additional important information regarding Racing Champions Fast and Furious Diecast:

  • Produced replicas in different scales – 1/64, 1:25, and 1:18
  • Released many of the prominent vehicles used in the movie. This basically means cars used by main characters of a film or has a significant airtime in the movie
  • Many of the diecasts produced are highly detailed, accurate, and great resembles the actual car used in the movie
  • Has already stopped production thus making Racing Champions Fast and Furious model cars highly sought and hard to find (especially the Tokyo Drift version of Joyride)
  • The tables below list each car produced by Racing Champions and a corresponding remark if needed

As mentioned, Racing Champions also released 3-car set, 5-car package, and vehicles with figures on their Fast and Furious diecast line. We wouldn’t be listing each in detail here as most of the cars are also released in single packaging. However the two below are very important:

White Honda from package:
This particular white Honda has a strong resemblance to the car used by Asian race car driver in the 4-way race in the first film. This movie car model completes the four vehicles used in the very first race of the FnF franchise.
Caution: extremely rare!

Black Honda S2000 with Suki figure:
This one is another hard to find FnF diecast. This particular model is the one used by Johnny Tran in Race Wars.
Caution: extremely rare!

5 stars for Racing Champions Fast and Furious Diecast

Johnny Lightning Fast and Furious Diecast –

If Racing Champions produced numerous FnF diecasts, JL only produced two – both of which are include in their HoW (Hollywood on Wheels) series and only available in 1:64 scale.

Listed below are these two diecasts:

  • Blue 2003 Nissan 350Z
  • 1999 Gray Skyline GTR

Expanding on the last bullet, aside from being a beast of a machine (Nissan GTRs are actually referred to as Godzilla in Japan), this is also the primary vehicle used by Brian (Paul Walker’s character) in the second movie (2Fast 2Furious). This makes it highly desirable for collector even though it is not highly detailed or accurate.

Unfortunately, this movie car replica is no longer in production making it extremely hard to find – and if one pops out on eBay, it would surely be pegged at a high price.

Adding more points to its desirability is the fact that Racing Champions did not manufacture this particular Nissan GTR diecast.

Don’t fret though! Hotwheels has answered the prayers of collectors who are not able to get their hands on this one (more on this in the Hotwheels section).

ERTL and Joyride The Fast and The Furious Diecast

Yours truly is unsure if ERTL, Joyride, and Racing Champions are one and the same company which is why ERTL and Joyride are discussed here - a separate section from Racing Champions

There’s not much to discuss since they haven’t manufactured that much FnF movie car replicas. However, the list below contains significant information worth noting.

  • The brand ERTL and Joyride are known movie car diecast manufacturers in 1:18 scale (large scale). Some of this include Starky and Hutch’s red GTO, KITT from Knight Rider, Speed Racer vehicles, etc…
  • Joyride manufactured the most number of car replicas used in the movie Tokyo Drift (3rd installment). But the scale is a little bigger than 1:64 and comparable to Jada’s 1:55 scale.

The photos below includes those from Joyride's Tokyo Drift Series

Revell Fast and Furious Diecast –

Revell is another toy maker that produced Fast and Furious diecast. Interestingly, they only produced 5 model cars but with amazing detail (even opening hoods)

  • Dom's Black Dodge Charger
  • Ja Rule's vehicle
  • Brian's Green Mitsubishi Eclipse
  • Brian's Red F150
  • Green Honda Civic used by a minor character

Greenlight Fast and Furious Diecast –

Hands down, GL (Greenlight) produced some of the best FnF movie car diecast. Only one word can be used to describe the details and accuracy and of their model replicas – AMAZING!

So far, GL has produced Fast and Furious car replicas in 1:64, 1:43, 1:24, and 1:18 sizes – and this cover various vehicles from different installments.

All their Fast and Furious 1:64 small scale version are part of their Hollywood line and are listed below:

  • Orange Dodge Challenger used / won by Roman in the second film
  • Black Dodge Charger used by Dom
  • Two versions of the police car used in the Rio heist (fifth film)
  • Dom's car that has been smashed by the Rock Dwayne Johnson (featured below)

Hotwheels Fast and Furious Diecast

Lastly, we will discuss Hotwheels version of The Fast and The Furious diecast.

All FnF movie car models released by Hotwheels are in 1:64 scale and can be categorized into three. These 3 categories are listed in the table below plus photos for a clearer visualization of the products.

Basic line (photo on the right):

  • Brian's Orange Supra
  • Dom's Black Dodge Charger
  • Dom's Dodge Charger Daytona

Retro Entertainment line:

  • Dom's Black Dodge Charger with blown up engine
  • Dodge Challenger used to pull the vault on part five (Rio heist)
  • Both are equipped with rubber tires

Walmart Exclusive:

  • Total of eight diecast cars ranging from movies 1 to 6
  • Includes the elusive gray Nissan Skyline that was produced by Johnny Lightning
  • Amazingly accurate and detailed but still a level lower compared to RC's
  • Re-released with additional two new vehicles
  • The Green Mustang used in the 3rd film (Tokyo Drift) is the rarest and most sought after
  • Photos are showcased below
