Final Fantasy XIII Release Date
When is it going to happen!?!
The latest installment in everyone's favourite rpg series has been in development for over three years. It features realistic graphics miles ahead of anything we've ever seen from the them before. Unlike previous games, this one seems to be a set in a more dystopian, futuristic setting than the high fantasy world as per usual. (FF6, 7 and 8 being notable exceptions).
But the question that is on the minds of most video game fans these days, is when is it going to come out? The release date has been pushed back three times. Today, I have a new answer for you. A recent news release claims North America wont see the game until at least some time in LATE SPRING 2010. At the earliest.
I don't know about you, rpg fans, but that's simply disheartening. Granted, that its usually about 2 or 3 years into a playstation console that we see a final fantasy game. (And the PS3 has only been around for just over 2) But still, in the age of instant gratification, fans want everything now. Take heed, Square Enix.
In the meantime, Square-Enix has published Last Remnant to tide us over until their flagship's debue, but Last Remnant, while being a decent game in its own right, suffers from some an overall mediocrity which worsens, rather than sates, our need for SQUARE.
If you're looking for solid Japanese Role Playing games, the playstation 3 does have some choice to offer the impatient gamer. "Eternal Sonata" is a bizarre rpg version of the life of Chopin. I can't say that it's a great game, but it certainly a decent game worth your purchase. The characters are stock, the story was bought in a store and the gameplay is varied and simple. But if nothing else, its original. I've role-played a lot of things in my life, but nineteenth century pianist is not one of them.
I'll update this page if any new developments are released. This is an issue of utmost importance to me.
