Fire Emblem Awakening Secrets

Lunatic+ Mode

If you manage to complete the game on the painfully difficult Lunatic mode, you can unlock Lunatic+ mode. Lunatic+ mode makes enemies more powerful, enabling Luna+ (where enemies always attack with Luna), and Vantage+ (where enemies always attack with Vantage). Most players will never unlock this special mode, so if you do, you can consider yourself a master of the game.

References to Other Games in the Series

Fire Emblem: Awakening’s Secret Birthday Celebration

The above video made for GameXplain's CoolBits series explains one of the best easter eggs in the entire Fire Emblem series. If you've played Fire Emblem Awakening, you might know that every character has their own birthday. You might also know that if you visit the barracks on the day of a a character's birthday, they will be rewarded with a stats boost. However, you probably didn't know about the deeper significance of characters' birthdays. Each character's birthday corresponds to an important date in the history of Fire Emblem. Lucina's birthday falls on April 20th. Unless you are a huge fan of the series, you won't know what this date signifies. It was the release date of Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, the first game in the Fire Emblem series, which was released on the NES, in Nintendo's infancy.

Severa was born on January 21st, and corresponds with Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, first published in 1994. Cynthia's birthday in the game is on May 14th, on which date Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War was first released. Kjelle's birthday takes place on September 29th in the game, which is the date when BS Fire Emblem: Archanea Senkiwas released in 1997. Fire Emblem: Binding Blade was released on March 29th. This corresponds with Nah's birthday on the same day. If you haven't played some of these older games it is well worth checking them out, but beware that console and cartridge prices are massively high, so not all of them are affordable.

Fire Emblem Fates Secrets and Hidden Extras

Fire Emblem Fates is a portable Fire Emblem for the Nintendo 3DS.

When you go to your own castle in FF fates, make use of the crystal ball. In the sub menu system go to 'Rewards'. Here you will find a variety of free items. These include both weapons and shields. It is worth a look, because you might luck out and happen upon a rare item.

Stealing Skills

Instead of reclassing and grinding to earn a particular skill for your character, you can simply invade an enemy castle, saving a lot of time. If you succeed in defeating an enemy, and taking control of their castle, you get to purchase skills for your characters.

Preventing a death

After Chapter 15, Kaze sacrifices himself to save Corrin, and dies permanently. However, it is possible to prevent this from happening. In order to do so, you need to give Corrin a support rank with Kaze.

Secret Characters

Four characters in the game can't join your party in the main story part of the game. Instead, you must improve your castle to attract them. Flora is unlockable in the Conquest path. In order to unlock Flora, you must build a Magic Turret in your castle. Yukimura is part of the Birthright path. To unlock Yukimura, you have to build Level 3 Automaton Puppets. Izana is another unlockable character. In order to unlock Izana, you must first build a Bath house.
