Grand Theft Auto Online: Solo Missions Volume 2

Updated on February 1, 2016
Eric Seidel profile image

GTA 5 and Online helped get me through a hard part of my life. When you spend THAT much time with a game you can't help but write about it.

To avoid repeating myself throughout this series I recommend reading the Reference Guide for a full list of tips and checklist of what you'll need to tackle Missions Solo.

Before We Continue

Some of these Missions, mainly the low level ones, you can play at any Rank but all Missions open up at a particular Rank. This guide was written using a Rank 185+ character but I mention at the end of each Mission recommended Ranks on a case-by-case basis and why they are recommended. In this guide I will also list out the following at the beginning of each Mission.

Given by: <The character in the game that gives you the Mission. Lamar, Simeon, and Gerald give you lower level Missions, while Ron, Lester, and Martin give you tougher Missions but with better pay.

Rank unlocked: <You cannot get this Mission until you have achieved this Rank, you can be invited to any Mission regardless of your level but you should not bite off more than you can chew.

Possible Pay (after patch 1.16): <I started writing this guide before Patch 1.16, but now that the Mission payouts have been fairly adjusted I will post here what I got for the strategy you will read. Just keep in mind that the pay is time based, so keyword here is “possible”. Results may vary.

Weapon(s) recommended: <Once again if you are a particular Rank you probably won’t have the weapon(s) I recommend, you should be at least Rank 60 so that you have a Grenade Launcher, 120 would be even better so that you have everything, but unlike Solo Survival I have to judge each Mission as it comes. I'm going to be vague with the weapon selection unless the Mission is best played with certain ones. New updates come out with new weapons and everyone has a different preference so this will be mainly open to those options.

Personal Vehicle recommended: <In GTA Online you can buy and store up to 20 vehicles (as of September 16th 2014) you should have at least one of each vehicle type in your garage (for Races) in addition to whatever you fancy. Here is where I will point out the best Vehicle for the particular mission. Most missions will require speed but some will require a strong battering ram approach.

Best Place To Launch Mission: <Sometimes you get invited to a Mission and it starts halfway across the map in somebody’s garage. That’s not kosher… There was a time when Rockstar had us start at the Mission’s most important point, and that is the case with some or when Replaying it from the vote screen, but when you’re playing a Solo Mission this spot is where you want to be when you launch it.

At the bottom of each walkthrough:

(Rank recommendation). Would bringing another player along be a good idea? Differences between old-gen and next-gen versions. Also going to cover major differences if any updates bring some.

Cops Capacity

Given by: Lester

Rank Unlocked: 19

Possible Pay (after patch 1.16): $15,310 (after patch 1.30): $11,480

Weapon(s) recommended: Grenades

Personal Vehicle recommended: Something fast and durable if the yellow Dominator gets destroyed

Best Place To Launch Mission: The tattoo parlor in El Burro Heights

Collect the supplies from the warehouse

Drive to Lester’s warehouse and collect the Grenades if you don’t have any. Get in the yellow Dominator, this is specially tuned for this mission. I’m not sure what it has exactly but it’s bullet proof and very durable. It’s also fast and if it gets blown up you’ll have your Personal Vehicle on standby. There isn’t much time to call the Mechanic later on so I recommend taking it in case you blow yourself up by accident. There are also 16 Grenades here if you don't have any.

Destroy the cop cars

Drive toward the police station and equip the Grenades, at no point during this mission do you have to leave the car (except for maybe destroying the riot van later). Toss a Grenade on each of the cop cars and speed off.

Destroy the riot van

Don’t do the put-on-mask-to-remove-a-wanted-star trick right away, you can only do it once and you’ll be getting more Wanted Levels later so it’s a waste right now. Drive to the next police station, the only way to get into the parking lot is to enter through the North end and head down the ramp (see third picture). Drive down into the parking lot and toss a Grenade toward the riot van. (Note: Alternatively you can bypass driving into the parking lot altogether and toss a Grenade on foot from the railing over-looking the lot (see fourth picture). It's up to you.)

Destroy the police bikes

You will get a three-star Wanted Level. Drive back out of the parking lot the way you came in and head toward the next police station. Toss a Grenade in the open space between the three police bikes, the explosion will take all of them out simultaneously.

Destroy the prison bus

Keep evading the police and make your way out to the Penitentiary in Blaine County. Don’t try to lose the police yet, just keep moving. Drive into the prison parking lot and toss a Grenade at the prison bus.

Lose the Cops

Ok now is the time to do that mask thing, but only once you are out of the view of the police. Also stay off the roads and keep to the hills, you will have a two-star Wanted Level after the mask thing so there’s no helicopters to worry about. (Just as a reminder, you’re playing a Lester mission so his “Remove Wanted Level” ability will not be available.)

Go to Lester’s safehouse

Lester’s safehouse is the same as the one in Chemical Extraction so it should not be a very far drive. Park in the yellow marker to end the mission.

(You have Grenades unlocked at this point, even without that you can do this Mission on your own from any Rank since they give you some at the beginning.)

The corona for the mission can be found at this spot on the map. The blue star will only appear on your mini-map.

Coveted

Given by: Listed Misc

Rank Unlocked: 35

Possible Pay (after patch 1.16): $16,130 (back to normal with patch 1.30)

Weapon(s) recommended: Heavy Sniper, assault rifle, RPG or Minigun

Personal Vehicle recommended: None

Best Place To Launch Mission: It doesn’t matter.

Go to the cove

If you haven‘t played this mission in a while it’s a bit different now than it use to be. Equip the Heavy Sniper and run forward a few feet. Snipe the enemies standing by the crates and Grangers, down the main hill (see second picture), first. Start from the top and work your way downhill to the cove. Some of them will take cover and fire back at you, but from where you are you can ignore them for now. Aim down to the left, to the beach at the mouth of the cave (see third picture). There is an oil drum near three gunmen on this beach, shoot it. If any gunmen survived the explosion (because they get spooked after the first shot) kill them before aiming up to the hill across the water with the two parked Grangers (see fourth picture). Shoot the engines of the two SUVs until they explode, it will take a couple of magazine’s (“clip’s”) worth of ammo but keep doing it until they explode. Shoot any survivors. As you are doing the above a few enemies will probably come up the hill to attack your position, when this happens pull out your assault rifle and make your way down the hill toward the cove.

Secure the landing site

A two minute timer will appear on screen. You have this much time to clear the cove of any enemies you missed during your sweep with the Heavy Sniper. Use an assault rifle or SMG at close range and use the crates and Grangers as cover.

Retrieve the container

Everybdy should be dead by now, except for the Cargobob pilot of course… Once it lands shoot the pilot when he exits the helicopter. Then get in.

Deliver the container to the warehouse

Press right on the D-pad to deploy the hook and carefully fly over the green container, by the mouth of the cave, so that you don’t scrap the nearby cliff. Once you have collected the container fly South. An enemy helicopter will appear on the radar and come after you. There is a clear piece of land between the Palmer Taylor Power Station and Ron Alternates Wind Farm (see fifth picture). Get close to the ground and press right on the D-pad to drop the container on the grass. If you do it from too far above you could risk damaging the container and failing the mission. Land, equip your Minigun or RPG, and take out the enemy helicopter. Make sure the helicopter is not hovering over the container when you do so, I made that mistake myself and it’s considered “the container is destroyed” if a flaming chunk of wreckage lands on it. Go figure… Grab the container and fly it to the warehouse, hover over the yellow corona and drop it once you get close enough to the ground. (Note: Alternatively you could try flying through the windfarm, chances are the windmills will destroy the enemy helicopter, but it could just as easily destroy your Cargobob too.)

(I recommend waiting until Rank 90 when you unlock the Heavy Sniper. Because this Mission was heavily grinded Rockstar made a lot of changes, in fact you could say they basically remade it like they did Rooftop Rumble. One of these changes was giving enemies a major damage buff against Sniper Rifle Ammo. You’ll notice it takes at least two Heavy Sniper shots to kill an enemy, and you won’t score a headshot every single time. Using the standard Sniper Rifle means three, if not four, shots per enemy. To do the above walkthrough wait until Rank 90. As for the helicopter, if you take my advice you can use your Combat MG (M249 SAW) against it at that Rank. Otherwise wait until Rank 50 for the MG, that is if you want to just use a standard Sniper Rifle.)

Crank Up The Volume

Given by: Ron

Rank Unlocked: 30

Possible Pay (after patch 1.16): $11,880 (after patch 1.30): $9,900

Weapon(s) recommended: AP Pistol or Micro SMG, SMG

Personal Vehicle recommended: Sandking XL with Turbo, Race Transmission, and full Engine upgrades

Best Place To Launch Mission: The Convenience Store/Trevor’s Meth Lab in Sandy Shores

Steal the RV

Get into your Sandking XL and drive toward the green dot on the mini-map. It takes the dirt road that goes past the Lost MC trailer park. Drive up that road, ahead of the RV, and park your Sandking XL across the second bridge along this road (see first picture). Some cars will try to ram past it, shoot any driver who tries. The RV will also try to do the same, but with a lot more force. Use your SMG to spray the windshield, and aim for the driver. (Note: You could also use the new Marksman Rifle from the LTS DLC). If you missed the driver, and the RV gets passed your roadblock, get in your Sandking and chase them down. Use your AP Pistol or Micro SMG to shoot the driver. If the RV is still running after going over the metal bridge ram them into the big logger’s trailer parked on the left side of the road (see second picture) just past that bridge. This will stop them long enough to kill the driver and jack the RV.

Deliver the RV to the meth lab

Get out of the RV and equip your SMG. Shoot all of the Lost gang members that appear. There are about 20 of them. Once they are all dead pick up any money they drop and get back in the RV. Drive back to Trevor’s meth lab, and don’t worry about the Lost gang at the trailer park when you drive past there. Just gun it to the meth lab and park in the yellow marker. Alternatively you could ignore ALL of the Lost members that respond and just drive straight to the meth lab.

(At Rank 30 you have an SMG, the Sandking XL you can buy at any time but you need to win a certain amount of Races to unlock Race Transmission, EMS Engine upgrades, and Turbo. You should play Super car Races, winning those unlocks upgrades for all other vehicles classes.)

A Lost MC van will start to give chase you drive past the trailer park.

Crime Scenester

Added in the High Life DLC

Given by: Lester

Rank Unlocked: 20

Possible Pay (after patch 1.16): $11,520 (after patch 1.30): $9.600

Weapon(s) recommended: Grenades, assault rifle

Personal Vehicle recommended: Motorcycle (any will do) Make sure you wait four minutes before starting the mission. Or else you will have to wait to Request Personal Vehicle. Your Personal Vehicle disappears at the beginning.

Best Place To Launch Mission: Los Santos Customs in La Mesa

Go to the crime scene

Drive up the street from the Los Santos Custom. When you get to the yellow marker, keep driving straight, and make a right at the trailer (see first picture).

Recover the cash

Drive up along the side of this building until you get to the first alley (see second picture). Turn your Motorcycle around and have it facing the way you came in. Toss a Grenade or Grenades on the police car and ambulance straight ahead. You might not blow both of them up but you will kill a couple of the cops nearby. Pull out your assault rifle and run toward the wreckage. Take cover by the garbage container on the right, or the wreckage of the vehicle(s) you just blew up. Shoot the cops responding around the corner. Ignore that part of the alley and go up the alley to the left. Keep moving and shoot the FIB agents, and other cops, near the Baller and white van. Don’t bother holding up somewhere to fight the armies of police that will appear. You will have a three-star Wanted Level and they will just keep coming. Only stop to re-heal with Snacks and maybe put on a new vest of Body Armor if you have the time. Run to the duffle bag and pick up the cash.

Lose the Cops

Fight your way back down the alley to your Motorcycle, get on, and get the hell out of the area following the nearby train tracks at the end of the fence. Follow the two tracks, heading South, until they split into four. Follow the right two train tracks across a bridge going over the LS River. Drive into the tunnel on the left (see third picture) and get off your bike. You should be clear to put on a mask while you wait for the Wanted Level to go away. If you brought a Motorcycle you can have enough maneuverability and speed, to keep the police at a distance, as you head to this tunnel.

Deliver the cash to Lester’s warehouse

Once you have lost your Wanted Level, get back on your Motorcycle, and drive to the yellow marker at Lester’s warehouse.

(At Rank 20 you have Grenades, and with DLC, you have access to the Special Carbine or Bullpup Rifle if you do not wish to use the standard Assault Rifle.)

This mission is a pain in the ass on Solo. It took me a few different times to get the above walkthrough figured out. Even that is not fool-proof. Bring a buddy along to take up position on one of the surrounding rooftops. They can rain Grenades and light machine gun fire while you fight your way up the alley to the cash.

Crystal Clear Out

Given by: Trevor

Rank Unlocked: 28

Possible Pay (after patch 1.16): $11,810 (still the same)

Weapon(s) recommended: Grenade or Grenade Launcher, assault rifle, sniper rifle

Personal Vehicle recommended: Any

Best Place To Launch Mission: The airfield in Grapeseed

Go to the coke factory

Get in your car and drive up the road to the coke factory. Don’t go down the dirt driveway or dirt road guarded by a Vagos gang member. Just keep following the road until you get to the end of the dirt road you passed, making a left onto it. Get out of your car by the immediate overlook by this dirt road (see first picture). This small ridge looks over the entire coke factory (see second picture).

Steal the coke

Toss or launch a Grenade on the Patriot, parked down below, by the house. Shoot every gang member you can from up here with your assault rifle. Then make your way down into the coke factory. Two boats will appear off the coast, DO NOT blow up these boats with an RPG/Grenade Launcher/etc. you will need one later. Pull out your sniper rifle and kill the gunman at the end of the pier near the coke. If you want to fight the rest of the gang members you can, just make sure you pick up the cash they drop, or you could just run for the coke.

Deliver the coke to Trevor’s trailer

Once you grab the coke you can fight your back to your Personal Vehicle, hop in, and drive to Trevor’s trailer. I would suggest grabbing one of the boats you hopefully didn’t blow up earlier. It’s practically a straight shot to Trevor’s from here and you don’t have to worry about enemy vehicles. Once you get to the other end of the Alamo Sea. Go to Trevor’s trailer.

(At Rank 28 you don’t really need a Grenade Launcher to play this mission. A thrown Grenade is just as good for the beginning of your assault in the above walkthrough. Apart from explosions you have pretty much everything you need by this point.)

There are more guys in the enemy boats, they are also more accurate from great distances (even with Micro SMGS...)

Crystal Clear Out II

Given by: Misc (Trevor related)

Rank Unlocked: 16

Possible Pay (after patch 1.16): $9,480 (after patch 1.30): $7,110

Weapon(s) recommended: assault rifle, Grenades or Grenade Launcher, sniper rifle

Personal Vehicle recommended: Any

Best Place To Launch Mission: Does not matter.

Take out the enemies

This mission is pretty straight forward, all it really involves is killing lots of hillbillies. From your starting position equip your sniper rifle and start shooting the heads of enemies up the hill (it’s all you will be able to see from here). You can also toss or launch a few Grenades up the hill since they stand near some vehicles that can increase the blast damage AND destroy their cover. Once you have thinned out the majority of red dots; run up the hill and equip your assault rifle. Shoot what’s left of the enemies up here. Get in your Personal Vehicle and drive to the next cluster of red dots on the mini map. Park in front of the trailers and take cover behind your car. No need for sniping here, just throw some Grenades and clear out the rest with your assault rifle. Some of the propane tanks can be shot to cause extra explosions. Once the last guy is dead the mission is over.

(This mission can be done at any point after Rank 5. Minus the Grenades and sniper rifle of course. With proper cover you could just use an SMG or the Special Carbine at this Rank.)

Crystal Clear Out III

Given by: Misc (Trevor related)

Rank Unlocked: 40

Possible Pay (after patch 1.16): $12,240 (the same after patch 1.30)

Weapon(s) recommended: assault rifle, Grenades or Grenade Launcher, sniper rifle

Personal Vehicle recommended: Something off-road

Best Place To Launch Mission: Does not matter.

Take out the Vagos

Like Crystal Clear Out II there is not much of a complicated strategy involved, and that’s what makes it fun. I recommend bringing an Off-Road class vehicle for cross-country travel. Take cover behind you vehicle and use Grenades on the enemy vehicles before cleaning up what is left with your assault rifle. At the third camp (third cluster of red dots on the mini-map) you can snipe enemies from far away on the nearby hills (see second picture).

(Like Crystal Clear Out II you can tackle this mission at pretty much any Rank as long as you use proper cover. Instead of using ordinance, you can take cover behind your Personal Vehicle and shoot enemies with an SMG or either of the DLC assault rifles.)

Deal Breaker

Given by: Gerald

Rank Unlocked: 6

Possible Pay (after patch 1.16): $9,180 (after patch 1.30): $6,890

Weapon(s) recommended: assault rifle or SMG/Combat PDW (Tear Gas Grenades are also useful)

Personal Vehicle recommended: Any

Best Place To Launch Mission: Barber Shop on Davis/Carson Avenue (across the street from the subway stop)

Go to the drug deal

Drive to the yellow marker on the map from wherever you spawn. Once you get to the drug deal you could either take cover behind your Personal Vehicle, or make a left once you hit the yellow marker then get out of your car at the next corner on the right.

Steal the coke

Climb the ladder (see picture) at this corner. At the top, step onto the brown pipe on the left to climb the roof of the building. Run toward the drug deal and drop down to the lower section of roof, taking cover behind the furthest left end of the ventilation ducts. Equip your SMG, or assault rifle, and start shooting every Vagos you see down below. (If you have some Tear Gas Grenades you can take out most of them without destroying the coke). After you have cleared out some of them you will have to drop down and clear out the last two or three under the awning you were just on. Once they are all dead pick up any loot you can find and the coke.

Deliver the coke to Gerald’s apartment

As you run back to your Personal Vehicle an SUV full of gang members will attack you. Shoot them before driving off to Gerald’s apartment to deliver the coke. You will not have to worry about any others on the way there.

(Thanks to DLC you can tackle this mission at any Rank, but you should wait for Rank 13 if you want to utilize Tear Gas Grenades into your assault.)

Death From Above

Given by: Martin

Rank Unlocked: 24

Possible Pay (after patch 1.16): $11,660 (still the same after patch 1.30)

Weapon(s) recommended: sniper rifle and assault rifle

Personal Vehicle recommended: after patch 1.29 you should bring an armored helicopter like a Cargobob. A Maverick isn't armored but you dont stand the risk of spawning on the ground, by the target, when you land on the roof of the house.

Best Place To Launch Mission: Ammunation in Little Seoul/Ginger St

Go to the mansion

If you don’t own a helicopter, you should at least own a Maverick or Frogger. If not you can do the dick move and shoot the pilot after calling in a Merryweather helicopter pickup (after Rank 30). There is also a chance you can jack a helicopter down by the marina as it lands. Fly to the mansion and land on the roof of the neighboring house (see first picture). It’s a slanted roof but if you land it at an angle there is no risk of it sliding off the roof.

Take out the target

From here (see second picture) equip your sniper rifle and shoot the two guards on the roof of the target's mansion. From behind your helicopter, but not in cover, shoot any other guards you can see from up here. You will take some damage in the process so make sure you use your Snacks to re-heal and put on a new set of Body Armor. Get in your helicopter and fly to the roof of the mansion. Equip your assault rifle and take cover by the wall of the roof. Shoot any guards and cops you have to, you’ll have a three-star Wanted Level by this point. Once you locate the target shoot him, he typically takes cover at this spot (see third picture).

Photograph the target

Kill any more guards in the vicinity (the guys in suits not the police if you can help it) before calling Lester and selecting his Remove Wanted Level ability. This will calm things down a bit; long enough to pull out your phone, and take a picture of the target.

Go to Madrazo’s house

You will continue to get shot at by any guards that are still alive, ignore them since engaging them will reset your three-star Wanted Level. Just get in your helicopter and fly to Madrazo’s house to end the mission.

(You have the Sniper Rifle and Lester’s Remove Wanted Level ability. If you do not own a helicopter Merryweather’s Helicopter Pickup service does not unlock until Rank 30. As much as I hate people killing the pilot for a cheap helicopter it is a helicopter, except you can’t get this for another six Ranks at Rank 24.)

This mission is notoriously hard; luckily, it pays better now than it use to. Still feel free to bring a friend along. This mission can be tough, even with a full four players.

In the next-gen version you will get an automatic one-star Wanted Level after calling Lester if you're still in the Target's compound. (Might happen in last-gen too.)

Death Metal

Given by: Gerald

Rank Unlocked: 6

Possible Pay (after patch 1.16): $9,180 (after patch 1.30): $6,890

Weapon(s) recommended: SMG and Shotgun

Personal Vehicle recommended: Any

Best Place To Launch Mission: The Los Santos Customs near the Airport

Go to Roger’s Scrapyard

Drive to Roger’s Scrapyard and run over the gunman standing guard past the front gate. Park your Personal Vehicle at an angle and take cover behind it.

Steal the coke

DO NOT use explosives because you could blow up the coke. Just take cover behind your Personal Vehicle, or the other things nearby, while you fight the gang members and other gunmen. They will also try to flank you, for these guys any shotgun is useful. Preferably the Sawn off. Once they are all dead grab all of the fallen loot, including the coke that is dropped.

Deliver the coke to Gerald’s apartment

This is one of the game’s first missions and they appear to go easy on you. There will be no enemy vehicles to fight or speed away from, just take the coke to Gerald’s apartment.

(At Rank 6 you only really have a Micro SMG and a Sawn off Shotgun. Both will get you through this mission, but the full SMG (unlocked at Rank 11) has a much better range.)

Given by: Martin

Rank Unlocked: 70

Possible Pay (after patch 1.16): $13,320 (still the same after patch 1.30)

Weapon(s) recommended: None

Personal Vehicle recommended: Any

Best Place To Launch Mission: The "Los Santos Customs" near Sandy Shores

Get in a helicopter

Get in your car and drive to Madrazo’s lockup. Once there get in one of the two Buzzard Attack Choppers.

Meet Madrazo’s contact at the airport

Fly south toward the airport. Press X/Square to equip homing-Rockets. The contact will be waiting at the helipads (behind the main terminal).

Escort the contact to Sandy Shores Airfield

Follow the contact’s helicopter as they fly back north. There is not much strategy to this mission. Just lock on to, and blow up the attacking helicopters. Once you get over the Vinewood sign you’re home free. Follow the contact’s helicopter to Sandy Shores Airfield and the mission is complete.

(At any Rank the game gives you everything you need for this mission. A basic knowledge of helicopter controls still helps though. Over-all a very easy mission.)

Denial of Service

Added in the High Life DLC

Given by: Lester

Rank Unlocked: 14

Possible Pay (after patch 1.16): $15,070 (after patch 1.30): $11,300

Weapon(s) recommended: Sticky Bombs (and assault rifle depending on your play style)

Personal Vehicle recommended: Something fast

Best Place To Launch Mission: Anywhere within the Los Santos area

Destroy the trucks

From wherever you start get in your Personal Vehicle and chase after the three moving red dots (trucks in transit). You will have close to ten minutes to complete this portion of the mission. Speed after the moving trucks and plant Sticky Bombs, WITHOUT detonating them, from behind the wheel of your vehicle. The fourth truck is parked at the gas station/Convenience Store in Little Seoul (see first picture). Drive there and plant a Sticky Bomb on that one as well WITHOUT detonating it. Save the truck in Rancho for last because of armed guards (see second picture). You can take out this fifth truck one of two ways; drive in and plant a Sticky Bomb (ignoring the guards gunfire), or run in and shoot the guards with an assault rifle and then plant a Sticky. Once each truck has been tagged, set off the Sticky Bombs by pressing Right on the D-pad.

Destroy the last truck

You will have a three-star Wanted Level, remember the mask trick for lowering your Wanted Level by one star. Chase after the last truck, which should be just across the river from where you are, driving on the highway. Set a Sticky Bomb on this truck and blow it up.

Recover the equipment

Get out of your vehicle and collect the briefcase.

Lose the cops

Get off of the highway and head for the hills in El Burro Heights. The Wanted Level shouldn’t be more than one or two stars, but still it’s best to be off of the highway.

Deliver the equipment to Lester’s warehouse

Once you lose the police head to Lester’s Warehouse and stop in the yellow marker to complete the mission.

(I recommend waiting until Rank 19 to play this mission since this is when you unlock Sticky Bombs. The mission is possible without them but shooting up the engines of each truck will require you to chase down every single one. You only have 10 minutes to complete the first part of this mission so that’s not a good idea.)

Possible Pay (after patch 1.16): $17,760 (after patch 1.30): $15,540

Weapon(s) recommended: Grenades, assault rifle or light machine gun, Grenade Launcher, Heavy Sniper or Minigun

Personal Vehicle recommended: Any, an SUV if you want to use it as a cover option

Best Place To Launch Mission: The Clothing Store in Paletto Bay

Steal the diamonds

Drive up the alley to the low white wall (assuming you started the mission at the Paletto Bay Clothing Store). Run up the right side of the alley and climb the first ladder you see (see first picture). At the top of the ladder jump down to the neighboring roof (see second picture) and take cover behind the low wall. Equip your Grenades and toss a couple over the wall at the parked Merryweather jeeps. Be careful of the angle you toss them at, the wall you’re hiding behind is taller than others. Once you have destroyed their vehicles (killing some mercs in the process) climb over the wall to the street below. Make your way up the street toward the alley on the left, killing any mercenaries that get in your way. Once back in the alley, from another direction this time, use an assault rifle or light machine gun to kill any left over mercs. Re-heal, put on new Armor, and pick up the box of diamonds.

Take the diamonds to the jetty

Equip your Grenade Launcher and take cover by any of the vehicles wreckages in the alley. About six Patriots full of Merryweather mercs will appear on the scene. Blow them up then drive to the Jetty. Don’t bother following the GPS route, just go cross country to the pier.

Get in the boat

Re-heal and put on new Armor before getting in the boat. Also equip your Heavy Sniper if you are Rank 90 or higher. Get in the boat and drive toward the platforms where Seasharks can usually be found (see third picture).

Take the boat to the drop off

A helicopter icon will appear on the mini-map you can snipe the pilot with a Heavy Sniper once he comes into range. You can also do the same for the two attack boats. Alternatively you can use the standard method of blowing them up with a Minigun. Either way get back in the boat and drive it to the jetty to complete the mission.

(I recommend waiting until at least Rank 90, to unlock the Heavy Sniper, before doing this mission. It’s good for sniping the helicopter pilot from far off. It doesn’t really matter you can probably do the same with the standard Sniper Rifle, but without the same penetration. You can also just opt to run away from the helicopter and boat. You can shoot the boats with a Micro Uzi or AP Pistol.)

The helicopter and attack boats come at pretty much the same time here. Don't even bother getting on the floating deck where the Seasharks spawn. Stay on the boat when you engage them. (After Patch 1.29 it looks like the attacking Patriots full of mercs have been removed.)

Rank Unlocked: 19

Possible Pay (after patch 1.16): $9,570 (still the same after patch 1.30)

Weapon(s) recommended: sniper rifle or assault rifle, shotgun

Personal Vehicle recommended: Something big and off-road. Like the Sandking XL

Best Place To Launch Mission: Does not matter

Steal the meth

Get in your Personal Vehicle and drive down the dirt road, a little up the street, on the left. Drive past the sign and park long ways between the wall and cliff side. This will block the road in case things don’t go straight with the following. Attack the Lost gang members (you don’t have to fight all of them) until two men on dirt bikes drive toward you. Use your shotgun to shoot the first guy off his bike, he is the one carrying the meth. Shoot every Lost member in your immediate vicinity grab the meth. (If the bikers get past you they should hit your roadblock, you can kill them with an assault rifle from where you are.)

Deliver the meth to Trevor’s trailer

Get in your Personal Vehicle and drive to Trevor’s trailer by way of Raton Canyon. No one will chase after you during the delivery.

(At Rank 19 you can do this mission solo. You can buy a Special Carbine and Marksman Rifle from any Rank with the corresponding DLCs.)

If you start the mission at the Darts bar you will approach the dishes from this direction. Which is good because it will protect you from the two snipers.

Weapon(s) recommended: assault rifle, Micro SMG or AP Pistol, and Grenades

From the bar, where you play Darts, drive toward the green blip. You will be approaching the satellite dishes from behind (see picture). This will protect you from sniper fire. Equip your assault rifle and attack the gang members. The guy with the coke will drive off, once you see the blip move, get in your Personal Vehicle and give chase. Ignore the other men at the drug deal and use your Micro SMG or AP Pistol from behind the wheel. Pick up the coke.

Deliver the coke to Gerald’s apartment

Speed toward Gerald’s apartment or stop and fight off the Grangers that chase after you, or just drive to Gerald’s and drop off the coke.

(At Rank 45 you have everything you need to do this mission.)

Docks To Stock 2 Removed

Docks to Stock II

Given by: Lester

Rank Unlocked: 75

Possible Pay (after patch 1.16): $20,250

Weapon(s) recommended: light machine gun

Personal Vehicle recommended: Any

Best Place To Launch Mission: The Ammunation near the Fort Zancudo Military Base

Acquire A Cargobob/Lose The Cops

This aspect of the mission is the same as American Exports. To avoid repeating myself here please check the link on the right. If Losing the Cops proves a little tough, you can land and use a light machine gun (or Minigun if you’re higher than Rank 120) on a couple of police helicopters to literally clear the air. Also as a reminder the “mask trick” only works outside of the Cargobob or any other helicopter.

Collect the Container

Once you Lose the Cops fly to the docks in southern Los Santos and land near the building that houses the Container. Equip a light machine gun and shoot the Merryweather mercs. There are not many of them. Use the Dock Handler, parked along the side of the warehouse, by the water, to get the Container out of the building. Use the Left Stick to raise/lower the grapple, and Right on the D-pad (like the Cargobob) to hook on.

Deliver the container to Lester’s warehouse

Worst-case scenario; your Cargobob got destroyed, and you don’t have a spare with Pegasus. It’s a loooong drive but the game accepts it as a delivery vehicle… Your Cargobob might be a little smoky from Losing the Cops, but should still be usable. Plus no worries of attack helicopters, but as you take the Container out of the warehouse Merryweather will appear in Patriots, but not constantly. As you put the Container outside, to grab with the Cargobob, one or two Patriots will show up at a time. Pick up the Container and fly it to Lester’s Warehouse. When you get low enough it will automatically drop.

(At Rank 75 you can use the MG against Merryweather mercenaries and police helicopters.)

Like American Exports this mission can be tough Solo. Bring a friend to run interference on the police with one of the Buzzard Attack Choppers. Weird how Docks to Stock is co-op only but the sequel can be done Solo?

Also like American Exports the new foliage system makes the land ramp harder to spot. It's still there... just look for the tree and bring something fastish to clear the fence.

Dry Docking

Given by: Martin

Rank Unlocked: 45

Possible Pay (after patch 1.16): $20,700 (after patch 1.30): $18,630

Weapon(s) recommended: Heavy Shotgun, Tear Gas (a full inventory of them), Proximity Mines, assault rifle, Minigun/RPG/Homing Launcher

Personal Vehicle recommended: Motorcycle

Best Place To Launch Mission: The Arm Wrestling game on Elysian Island

Go to the shipyard

This mission is tough to do Solo, but not impossible with the following strategy. Before you begin the mission make sure you’re fully stocked with Snacks, Body Armor, and Tear Gas. When you’re ready head to the Shipyard.

Crack the safe

Equip your Heavy Shotgun (or Assault Shotgun) and take cover by the doorway in the corner of the shipyard building (see first picture). Shoot the three Merryweather mercenaries, inside, and the others that respond. (Note: They will keep respawning throughout the mission, but there are a number of them you should clear out now.) Get on your Motorcycle and drive through the door, and up the stairs on the right. Park it in the spot in the second picture. This will make your job easier later by denying the spawn point near here. Go back outside the way you came and head toward the end of the dock, by the water. There are two Merryweather Mesas parked here (see third picture), but be weary of the mercs on the nearby docks. Take each of these to the base of each stairway (see video). This will block mercs that spawn downstairs, but not the ones that spawn upstairs (the Motorcycle trick will take care of only one side's respawn point, there are two of those points so pick where you want to park your bike specifically). While you’re driving use your AP Pistol, from behind the wheel, to combat them as you move the Mesas into position. Go upstairs, clear away any immediate threats, set up a couple Proximity Mines at each stairway then toss a half dozen (or less) Tear Gas Grenades at either stairway (see picture), and approach the safe.

The safe-cracking mini game is not as hard as it preserves. For the first number you can either go left or right with the Left Stick. The first number is the easiest to get because if you screw up you can go back quick. For the next two numbers you can only turn the dial left OR right, and doing the opposite will reset the whole sequence. That’s the LAST THING you want to do on this mission. When the tumbler begins to shake lightly LET GO OF THE LEFT STICK, tilt it gently in the direction you were going until it shakes violently. When that happens wait a couple seconds and you will have unlocked the number in the combo. If you miss it keep rotating until you come back to the hot spot. Unlike in real life you won’t reset the sequence if you hit “0”, but you will if you try to go in the opposite direction. In case you screw up, God forbid, make note of the numbers. If you have to exit the mini-game (to re-heal and toss new Tear Gas) the combo will reset (frustratingly unrealistically). You will get the safe open, just keep patient and trust your defenses.

Steal the boat

The hard part’s over. Re-heal and put on a new set of Armor. Fight your way out of the warehouse, toward the dock those mercs were shooting at you from earlier. Kill them now, if you haven’t already, and get in the boat.

Deliver the boat to the marina

You can either go around the airport’s peninsula, or take the shortcut through the canal past Maze Bank Arena (see picture). A helicopter and two attack boats should show up, but they might not (I suppose there’s an invisible boundary where they spawn, but taking the canal path might avoid this). Use a light machine gun or Minigun to take the out then drive to the marina to complete this bitch of a mission.

(Wait until Rank 50 to unlock the MG. Everything else you have. At Rank 135 you can carry 10 units of Body Armor. Every little bit helps, something to consider.)

This is not impossible, but man you are better off bringing a friend along for this one. You will probably develop an ulcer otherwise. Fun fact: Took 21 attempts to get this right and almost gave up doing this one.

Here is a parking garage you can drive to to hide from the police.

Editor and Theif

Given by: Martin

Rank Unlocked: 45

Possible Pay (after patch 1.16): $7,760 (still the same after patch 1.30)

Weapon(s) recommended: AP Pistol or Micro SMG

Personal Vehicle recommended: Something fast if you don’t want to use the provided Dominator

Best Place To Launch Mission: Doesn’t really matter

Go to the Daily Globe offices

When the mission begins you will be near a parked Dominator. You can either use this car or call your Mechanic. It’s up to you but the Dominator provided is good enough for the mission. Drive to the Daily Globe offices.

Take out the editor

The editor will be driving a red Voltic. Chase him down and shoot him with your Micro SMG or AP Pistol. Do not blow up his car in the process.

Steal the photographs

After the editor is dead get out of your car and collect the briefcase of photographs.

Lose the cops

You will receive a two-star Wanted Level. The area has many alleys and parking garages you can drive into to hide. You can also do the mask trick.

Deliver the photographs to Madrazo’s house

Once you have lost the police simply drive to Martin’s house and stop in the yellow marker.

(At Rank 45 you have everything you need to do this mission Solo.)
