General Achievements Guide - Diablo 3

Updated on June 1, 2012

This guide will cover the various general achievements players can earn, those which don't necessarily fall into any of the other categories in Diablo 3, listing them along with their description and information on how to unlock each. These are typically handed out for passing certain milestones in the game, completing a difficult or out of the ordinary task.

**WIP** This guide is still being worked on, expect to see additional info and pictures until this message is removed.

General Achievements

There are 12 general achievements in Diablo 3, most of them having to do with finding gold as loot, with some other "on the way" type of tasks. Within this category are also 2 subcategories, exploration which covers traveling to various locales and conversations which involves talking to NPCs.

  1. Scavenger
  2. Spare Change
  3. Moneybags
  4. Deep Pockets
  5. Staying Gold
  6. All That Glitters
  7. Spoils of War
  8. The One Percent
  9. Armed to the Teeth
  10. Prepared for Battle
  11. The Comfort of Strangers
  12. Breaking Not So Bad

Pick up 10,000 gold.

There are 7 gold achievements in total, each going up by significant amounts before culminating in a hundred million gold found. This does not include gold made from selling items to vendors, but can be quickened with lots of gold find items. I will make notes as I have unlocked these as to how long it took me to do (playing casually, but exploring a lot) so in order to give a decent estimate.

Time Estimate/Unlocked: Halfway through Act I.

Spare Change
Spare Change

Spare Change

Pick up 50,000 gold.
Unlocks the Angelic banner shape.

Second step up.

Time Estimate/Unlocked: Early into Act II.

Pick up 100,000 gold.
Unlocks the Soft Wings banner accent.

Time Estimate/Unlocked: End of Act II on normal.

Deep Pockets

Pick up 500,000 gold.
Unlocks the Golden Touch banner sigil.

Golden touch, aka special ability of King Midas.

Staying Gold

Pick up 1,000,000 gold.
Unlocks the Runes banner pattern.

All That Glitters

Pick up 5,000,000 gold.
Unlocks the Chalice banner accent.

Spoils of War

Pick up 10,000,000 gold.

Deep Pockets

Pick up 100,000,000 gold.
Unlocks the Gold banner accent.

A reference to the occupy movement.

Armed to the Teeth

Equip all inventory slots with items that have a minimum required level of 25 or higher.
Unlocks the Knights' Helmets banner accent.

Expect to get this achievement somewhere along in late Act III or Act IV of normal.

Prepared for Battle

Equip all inventory slots with items that have a minimum required level of 60 or higher.

The next step after reaching level 60, is getting your gear to level 60 to.

The Comfort of Strangers
The Comfort of Strangers

The Comfort of Strangers

Recruit the Templar, Scoundrel and Enchantress.
Unlocks the Dark Bleed banner pattern.

You will find the companions throughout the natural progression of the game, so they are impossible to miss, with the Enchantress being the last within the first few quests of Act II. Note that you actually have to hire each one at least once and have them following you, if just for a moment, for this to count. You can swap them back out for your preferred choice afterwards.

Breaking Not So Bad
Breaking Not So Bad

Breaking Not So Bad

Use a merchant to repair an item.

Very easy and something you'll have to do at one point anyway as your weapons and armor get damaged from combat or death. You can unlock this within the first few minutes of starting the game. Also this achievement's name is a reference to the (really awesome) AMC series, Breaking Bad.

It only counts the gold you pick up from the ground, like from monster drops or opening chests and the like. It doesn't count any gold you make from selling items to vendors or from quest rewards. If you open your achievement menu it should have a current tally of how much you've picked up along with your progress towards unlocking it.
