Gifts for Boys Twenty Dollars and Under

Updated on July 9, 2013

Are you looking for that perfect gift but don't have a lot of cash? There are plenty of great toys for boys available for around twenty dollars or under. Here you will find some of the most popular toys of the year as well as some classics!

Trash Packs

Believe it or not trash is in! If your child is anything like mine he will probably like characters such as Slimy Salami, Grott Rockett and Trash Cat. Yes these are little characters that resemble trash. Trash Packs are small and rubbery like Squinkies and come in their own trash can. You can purchase a garbage truck and a trash bin for them to play in ( however they are not under twenty dollars!) The newest in Trash Packs is the Drum Game. The Trashies are now on Series 2 and Series 3 is expected soon.( Ebay seems to be carrying them now.) Some of the newest Trashies they have come out with is a trashie that dissolves out of his bag. Other new Trashies have a putrid smell!

Squinkies

Yes Squinkies are for boys too! There are several collections available including Squinkies from the movie Cars. You can find Squinkies from outer space and Marvel Comics. Hot Wheels has a set of these squishy squashy figures too. What you probably did not know is that Squinkies were made as a reinforcer for children There are several types of Squinkie Dispensers for boys and girls. Just slip the plastic coin into the Squinkie dispenser and a Squinkie rolls out just like a gumball machine. Skull Cavern is the Squinkie dispenser for boys. My son has one and loves it!

Animal Planet

If you are looking for something that is educational and stimulates the imagination take a look at toys by Animal Planet. Animal Planet the television channel has inspired many creative toys. Your child can enjoy an ocean adventure or a tub of dinosaurs! Yes your child can even "enjoy" a remote control Tarantula! My son wants one but I just could not bring myself to purchase it!

Playmobil

I have a lot of good things to say about toys made by Playmobil! I own several Playmobil toys. My son does not get tired of playing with them! These toys definitely spark his attention and hold his interest for a long time! Playmobil has all types of playsets. From dragons to pirates to even a veterinarian hospital! Now I know what you are going to say, these toys are expensive! Not really because you get a good quality toy. But if you want to try out a smaller Playmobil set you can get several for under twenty dollars. Typically you get a couple of figures that you can dress, a creature and scenery.

DaGeDar

Pronounced like it sounds, this toy offers some racing fun. Magnetized balls race down a track you assemble Advertised as ball bearings these toys have quite a bit of detail on them. Of course they are collectors items. Each DaGeDar ball is a character with a story. To find that story you will have to go on line to read more about them. On the bottom of each ball is a code you use. Launchers and spinners are available for the tracks too!

Mighty Beanz

Mighty Beanz are fun little magnetized "beans". Each Bean has great detail. There are many characters available in six different sets. The fun of purchasing Mighty Beanz is you never know which one you are going to get! My son has a great time playing with them on their track! Race them and collect them all!

Paper Jamz

Paper Jamz makes some awesome musical instruments for a song! These instruments are constructed of paper and have many ways to play it. You can play note for note or strum along to your favorite song. Paper Jamz makes drum sets, guitars and now a microphone. A lot of the guitars are now being sold for around twenty dollars! Boys of any age would like this as a gift!

Legos

Yes Legos are an instant classic, but with a new twist. Did you know Legos sets come in character sets? Spongebob Legos are some of the hottest toys out there. My son owns the Krusty Krab Lego set. It comes with easy to read directions ( yes even my six year old son was telling ME what to do). Along with the Krusty Krab is a patty mobile and Spongebob and Patrick. Spongebob not your thing? There are other Lego sets available as well.
