Halo 4 Spartan Ops Episodic Content Details

Updated on August 26, 2012

Halo 4 will feature both single player and competitive multiplayer in the retail version of the game. However, there will also be a Spartan Ops campaign, which is episodic content that will be included with the cost of the game as well. Spartan Ops is a separate campaign that takes place after the normal Halo 4 campaign. It will also have separate protagonists (no master chief). The campaign follows the "Majestic Squad." There will be a new episode each week with 5 linear missions and a CG (computer generated) cut-scene to tell the narrative.

Halo 4 Spartan Ops

The Spartan Ops missions will be playable as either a single player experience or cooperatively with up to four players. Players can also use a matchmaking option to look for players online just in case they do not have anyone to play with at that time. One of the best aspects of the separate Spartan Ops campaign is that it comes with the game (no extra charge)!

It is said that Halo 4 Spartan Ops campaign will be as long as Halo ODST campaign! Obviously everyone plays the game at their own pace, but that is just an estimate of how long the combined episodes will be.

If you count both the Halo 4 campaign and the Spartan Ops campaign, players can expect about 15-20 hours of game play! That's quite a lot of time compared to Halo Reach and Halo 3

Halo 4 Spartan Ops

343 industries has said that the Halo 4 Spartan Ops difficulty level must be the same for every player. This makes it fairer because you technically could have one-player play on the hardest difficulty while the others are on a much easier difficulty. The player on the hardest difficult would have a much easier time with help from the other players because they are playing on an easier difficulty. If everyone is on hard difficulty, one player will not be able to "boost" essentially.

In the Spartan Ops campaign, you will be facing the Covenant enemies, but will also be facing an enemy called the "Forerunners." The Forerunners will be faster in comparison to the Covenant. They will have an orange tint slightly. One of the Forerunner enemies you will face are called "crawlers." These creatures are very weak and easy to kill (a couple shots will do the trick). Crawlers, however, are more dangerous in groups and can scale walls and ceilings. They will attack you with a strange laser.

Another Forerunner enemy is called the "Watchers." These enemies do not pose a direct threat in Halo 4, but will provide support to other Forerunners. They will float above the combat area and will spawn more enemies. Failure to take down the Watchers means that you will have to continuously fight more enemies, so it is very important to take them out!
