Harvest Moon: Animal Parade Guide - The Harvest Goddess and her undeniable request...literally.

Updated on May 29, 2013

Right where we left off!

Welcome back! Time for part 2! Let's see, we've said hi and met everyone who was currently in town, and received a toolbox to give to Bo! Looks like we're making progress! If you stopped playing in anticipation of reading the rest of this guide (which is a terrible idea) then you are probably ready to go give Bo that toolbox, right? If you want to, you can, but we're going to make a detour for the sake of progress. Instead of going straight to Bo, make your way to Marimba Farm, which is right next to the Horn Ranch. Enter the building with the pumpkin on it, and, if you haven't already, you will see a scene with a boy and his dad arguing. The boy storms outside, and the dad could care less! What a happy family! Well, when this scene is over, go talk to the woman behind the counter. Take some of your 1000G and buy a decent strawberry. After you're done here, go to the Horn Ranch next farm over, and buy some decent milk. If you want to marry Renee later on, don't hesitate to stop by and chat with her, but for now, It's time we go bring Bo his toolbox.

If you've been doing all of this in the same order shown here, then it should be past 6:00pm (18:00) by the time you make it to Bo. Once you give him his toolbox, he'll be able to get to work on the bridge...or not! It seems Bo has been working himself so hard, he hasn't had anything to eat. Apparently, standing there counts as work...Well, you, being the kind person you are, want to bring him a meal! He specifically asks for milk and a strawberry! Isn't it convenient that we bought those just a couple (in-game) hours ago? Give him the food you bought, and he'll have the bridge done by the very next day! He'll even come and let you know when he finishes it! With that, you should probably head to bed. There's not much else to do at the moment, unless you feel like trying out some of your new tools for a few hours, in which case, then go ahead.

We're multitasking! Rather we will be.

So, you wake up the next morning, and Bo knocks on your door! He came by to tell you the bridge was fixed, just as he had promised yesterday! You now have access to the Garmon Mine district of town! Before we go and do anything special, go to the Goddess Spring just around the Carpenter's. When we get there, however, we have a problem. A bunch of animals are blocking your path angrily, and won't let anyone through, including you! Maybe there's someone who can help us deal with animals....Oh well, let's go meet everyone in the Garmon Mine district for now.

keep in mind that, eventually, you can befriend these critters here.
keep in mind that, eventually, you can befriend these critters here.

Let's start close, and walk into the Carpenter's store. You'll meet a large man named Dale, and his dog, Boss. He'll tell you about his son, Luke, who went into the forest to find lumber. The problem is, the forest Luke went into is a maze, and his “idiot son” has no sense of direction. Let's worry about him later. When you regain control of your character, go behind the counter and talk to Dale. He'll show you how to make friendly with animals, using his dog as an example. He'll try to give you an important item, but it would turn out that he dropped it somewhere. He recalls having it at the general store, so let's see if it's over there!

Here's one of the only times you see Boss. but you can find a directly similar dog (who is probably this one) over in the church grounds later

The search for the important item! Also, ladies, meet Julius, the pretty boy.

Inside the general store, you find a high spirited, middle aged woman organizing her stock. This is Barbara, Simon's wife, and Pheobe's Mother. We'll meet Pheobe later on, but we'll hear about her right now. Apparently, she went into the mines, and never came back. You won't be able to find her right away, so don't sweat it too much. When you regain control of yourself, go talk to Barbara as you did Dale. She sweeps every day, so if there was an item someone dropped on the floor, she must have swept it up. Just our luck! Or perhaps not! Her husband also helps out, and when he finds something he thinks may be of value, he takes it to Julius to be appraised. Julius works at the accessory store right next door, so let's get moving.

When you walk into the accessory store, Julius will be lounging back on the couch in a depressed slump. This poor artist has no materials to work with, and the shop is going down the toilet after the owner, his boss, died a while ago. He asks if you would like to take over the shop, since there is nobody else, and he certainly won't do it. He's not a businessman, he's an artist. Of course, you're not a businessman (or businesswoman if you chose to go that route.) You're a rancher! (which, thankfully, isn't gender specific.) Besides, He couldn't just give the shop away, it was the pride and joy of his boss. Oh, if only Mira were here to take over. That's a hint....

You'll find Barbara here is a much more positive thinker than her husband, Simon. Yep, that guy. Best you worry about what's at hand right now. you can't meet Pheobe until after ringing the red bell.

Meet the pretty boy of Animal Parade, Julius. he comes off as a jerk with his first few words, but he's a surprisingly nice guy.

And now, Meet the blacksmith!

Anyway, when you can run around again, talk to Julius, who thankfully isn't behind a counter wanting to sell you things. After asking him about the item, he'll tell you about how Simon brought him an orange whistle! But he told Simon it was simply a toy, and Simon gave it to Chloe. Chloe is the adorable little girl who lives with her grandpa and cousin, who you're about to meet next. Go ahead and leave now that you have the information you need, unless you feel like chatting with Julius some more.

Right down the line, we get to the blacksmith's store! We find an old, balding man working on something. Or, at least he's trying to. The fires around here aren't hot enough to smelt ores, or to make any tools. He mentions Owen, his grandson, and Chloe, his Granddaughter (from a different parent). When you can, talk to him from behind the counter, and ask him about the whistle. He'll tell you that ordinarily, when Chloe gets a new toy, she goes and shows it off to Owen, and Owen is in the mines right now. Won't take much to figure out our next destination, huh?

Ramsey (not the chef) will upgrade your tools for you, it's also fairly easy to make his granddaughter, Chloe, your friend, which will be relevant later on.

Good thing, too! Say hi to Mallet-boy!

Thankfully, it doesn't take much to get there, either. As soon as you walk into the mines, You'll meet Owen. I like to call him Mallet boy, then go to my much more played file, and rub my baby in his face...I'm a bad parent. Anyway, back to the guide file! Owen will give you a hammer, and introduce himself. He's not such a bad guy. He does, however, leave for the lower mines before you can ask him about the whistle (I knew he was a jerk deep down...) You have to go down into the mines, and make your way to the 10th Floor down. When you do, you'll see him smashing a big rock with a hammer. He'll tell you about how Chloe was showing off the whistle when a bunch of animals began chasing after her! He took it from her for being too dangerous, and then he goes ahead and gives it to you! Maybe he's not so bad after all!

Once you get the whistle and get out of the mine, go ahead and head back to where the goddess spring will be. This time, you use the whistle, and the animals like it! The animals apologize to you (sort of) and explain (sort of) that they were only trying to protect the goddess. They decide to let you through. Finally, progress! And, for some reason, you wind up outside the entrance to the spring, instead of the spring itself. Go figure...

I don't really like Owen that much, but he gives you the Hammer. He can't be that bad, right?

She's Beautiful...she's also off-limits until you beat the story...

Go back down the path, and you'll finally get to the Goddess Spring. Finn is much more excited now, and you find a beautiful aged temple holding a tree with no leaves. Fin wakes the harvest goddess, who floats down with her magical aura, and a surprisingly tight looking creamy teal colored dress. You can actually marry the Harvest Goddess, but if you plan on doing that, you'll have to wait until you finish the main story. The goddess explains how the elements are losing their strength, as is the tree behind her. In order to return this strength, you need to ring 5 bells that exist on this land. You'll see a map of where the bells are, and the harvest goddess will ask your help. You can't deny her, so pick how you want to accept.

Leave it to me!

No Problem!

Yeah!

When you accept it, she will give you a Power Berry. These helpful items will increase your total stamina, so keep an eye out to get them. She also warns that the bells can only be rung while the sun is out. This won't be too much of a problem, anyway, so keep in mind that the Harvest Goddess is counting on you, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask her. She'll never leave the spring, so don't worry about losing her. I would recommend you ask her questions about the bells, but you wouldn't need this guide if you did, so it's your choice. The five bells are all owned by one of five Harvest sprites, not including Finn. Their names are Alan, Ben, Collin, Daren, and Edge (notice a pattern?) You can learn about all five bells by asking her. I'm only going to help you fix them and ring them. If you want to learn about them, she's your go-to goddess. Then again, in this game, she's the ONLY goddess, so there's that.

Remember, you can't actually make friends with her until after summoning the Harvest King with the help of the harvest sprites. Even afterward, she can be hard to please, so if you really want to Marry her, be ready for some work.

Now it's time for us to leave the Goddess Spring, and get to work! The first thing on the list is to locate the frames for each bell. The harvest sprites reside within the bells themselves, so you can find them whenever you find the bell, but in order to ring However, we're going to take care of that later, unless you're in the future reading this, of course. If so, you probably already have the rest of it available to you. Of course, if it's far enough into the future, this is probably a retro game. Well, whatever time period you happen to be in, see you guys soon!
