Chris - Khazra journals drop locations.
This journal can be found easily at any time, even the very beginning of a new game. Head inside the Slaughtered Calf Inn at New Tristram and look for the A History of Tristram book sitting on the table as your first enter. Click on the book and this journal will fall out.
There is a random chance for some games to have Warriv's corpse along with his demolished caravan on the side of the Old Tristram road, which you pass through during the quest, The Fallen Star. Search his body to retrieve the journal that tells a little about the unfortunate life Warriv lead after the events in the previous game. If you do not find him there, you will have to make a new game to try again.
Along the Old Tristram Road you pass during The Fallen Star quest, you can find an Adventurer's Corpse, the body of a person still armored holding a shield and blade, which can be searched in order to find the Travelers Journal. It can be random where exactly this object spawns, but it's a common spawn nonetheless.
Old Tristram Journal
In the Old Tristram Road areas along with Old Tristram itself, are Old Keepsake Boxes which can be opened to retrieve several different journals. In my experience, this was journal #4 to come out of the boxes, and there seems to be a specific order in how they appear.
The Hanging Tree
You will find this journal from a random event which goes by the same name. In the Weeping Hollows, look for the tree to the right, which should have a Rotting Coffin sitting beside it. Clicking the coffin will start a Skeleton attack that once defeated, will yield The Hanging Tree journal.
This journal can be found in the Cemetery of the Forsaken. Look around for a skeleton lying on the ground you can search, labeled the Gravedigger's Bones. Searching this object will present you with the book which pops right out. This is a randomly spawning object.
Tristram Fields is a journal found of the corpse of a human in the Fields of Misery. You will need to search for a special one labeled the Slain Traveler, which seems to spawn at random but is usually somewhere in the fields, just not in the same location every time. The other corpses are usually named Dead Adventurer, and seem to wear different attire, more armor pieces typically.
Tomb Robber's Journal
During the quest the Broken Blade, you will pass through the Crypt of the Ancients to collect the Beacon of Light. Search around the small dungeon for the fresh corpse of a human wearing some ragged clothes, labeled the Crypt Robber. Loot him for the journal.
This journal is found within the dungeon in the Festering Woods of the same name, which is the other place you must enter for the second beacon in The Broken Blade. Right upon entering Warrior's Rest, look for a skeleton corpse labeled Ancient Skeleton and search it for the book.
The Last Stand of the Ancients
This journal drops of the final rare monster that spawns during the Last Stand of the Ancients event that occurs in the Festering Woods. You can check the guide linked for additional information on the event.
The Drowned Temple
Upon entering the actual Drowned Temple itself, where you fight the brothers Larel, Karel and Moek, there will be a stone platform that goes off to the left where the water is. Search the platform for a skeleton corpse labeled Ancient Bones which drops the journal.
The Torn Letter is the second journal which can fall out of the Dusty Bags which are littered about in the Caverns of Araneae, coming after the Hermit's Ravings. These bags are little brown satchels on the ground, usually placed in out of the way locations.
Torn Letter's Response
The Torn Letter's Response is the third and final journal which can be found out of the Dusty Bag in the Caverns of Araneae. You should be able to find at least 3 of these bags in one run, as they are not that rare. Worth searching for since there is usually a resplendent chest in the caverns as well.
The Highlands is a journal which comes out of a small box, which is a randomly spawning object in the Southern Highlands named the Lost Chest. It seems to always spawn somewhere close to the entrance of the area from the Highlands Crossing.
Khazra Heads Wanted
Search around in the Highlands (north or south) for the body of a villager who looks bloodied but also as though he has half melted into the ground, with arm stretching up and outward. Quite a grisly sight. Either way, search this body labeled the Decaying Corpse for Khazra Heads Wanted. The other Khazra journals share this source and Decaying corpses can also be found in the Highlands Crossing and Northern Highlands area. It does not matter where exactly you find the corpses, as the journals drop in the order listed.
Researching the Khazra
This journal is the second of three which can be found from Decaying Corpses in the north and south Highlands areas. There are a lot of Dead Villagers mixed in, so you will need to search rather thoroughly and check all the names to find the ones that have this journal and the next.
The Khazra Massacre
The Khazra Massacre is the last journal on the list, and will be the third one you find from searching Decaying Corpses in the Northern or Southern Highlands. In my own runs i was able to find two of the corpses in the northern portion and one in the southern in a single game, thus unlikely that you'll need to reload. The area is small and there is a handy waypoint nearby, making this a quick find nonetheless.
