How To Complete the Children's Week Achievements in World of Warcraft

Updated on March 27, 2009

The Children's Week is one of Blizzard's many fun holiday festivals in World of Warcraft. Completing all of the Children's Week achievements will award you with the title of either Patron (for male toons) or Matron (for female toons).

This guide should get you well on your way towards obtaining that title.

Home Alone

"Use your hearthstone while your orphan is with you."

This is a very easy achievement to accomplish. All you need to do, is have your orphan pet out and hearth. If you have any problems with this one then World of Warcraft possibly isn't for you.

Daily Chores

"Complete a daily quest every day for five consecutive days with your orphan out."

This achievement sounds very easy to complete, however there are some things you might need to take into account. There is an achievement called A Simple Re-Quest that is notoriously bugged. For A Simple Re-Quest, you need to complete the same daily quest for five days in a row. Sounds simple, but it isn't. The reason why it's tough is because it was bugged in such a way that the counter would reset for various reasons.

Most of the bugs have been fixed by Blizzard, and hopefully they will be completely fixed by the time of the next Children's Week. The biggest problem that is still in the game, is that the daily counter will reset if you don't complete a daily within 24 hours of the previous one. Therefore it is best to do a daily in the morning and a daily in the afternoon to ensure that you will always be withing that 24 hour limit.

Hail To The King, Baby

"Defeat King Ymiron in Utgarde Pinnacle with your orphan out."

This is where being level 80 has it's advantages!! All you need to do is kill King Ymiron with your orphan out. Just find a group (shouldn't be hard during Children's Week) and finish him.

Bad Example

"Eat the sweets listed below while your orphan is watching."

The location to find all the sweets are as follows:

Tigule and Foror's Strawberry Ice Cream

Alowicious Czervik <Sweet Treats> - Orgrimmar (near the bank, horde only)
Brivelthwerp <Ice Cream Vendor> - Thousand Needles (Shimmering Flats Raceway)
Caregiver Isel <Innkeeper> - Nagrand (Telaar, Alliance only)
Matron Tikkit <Innkeeper> - Nagrand (Garadar, Horde only)
The Snack-O-Matic IV (Found in Zeppelins)

Red Velvet Cup Cake, Dalaran Doughnut, Dalaran Brownie, Lovely Cake Slice (Comes from an 18g Lovely Cake)

Aimee <Pie, Pastry & Cakes> - Dalaran (Outside northern bank)

Tasty Cupcake

Crafted. The recipe drops from random mobs in WOTLK. Check the auction house, there are bound to be plenty there if you can't find any friends that can make them.

Delicious Chocolate Cake

Crafted. The recipe is hard to obtain as it is a random reward for the daily cooking quests in Shattrath and Dalaran. Best bet is to keep your eye on the Auction House during the run up to Children's Week.

School of Hard Knocks

"Take your orphan into the battlegrounds and complete the feats listed below."

This is the hardest achievement of all the Children's Week Achievements. If you are lucky, there might be some premades going on your realm for the achievement.

I would recommend aiming to start tackling this achievement right from day 1 of the Children's Week. This should maximise your chance of joining up with other like-minded people, strength in numbers and team work is the key to this achievement.

Aw, Isn't It Cute?

"Obtain one of the Children's Week reward pets."

This should be the last achievement you complete, as once you hand the quest in, you lose your orphan for another year.

For the Stormwind Orphan, you will get quests that take you to the haunted lighthouse in Westfall, the Stonewrought Dam in Loch Modan, the bank in Darnassus, and lastly to the home of Jaina Proudmoore in Theramore Isle.

For the Orgrimmar Orphan, you will get quests that take you to the Undercity, the docks in Ratchet, the Mor'shan Rampart in The Barrens, and lastly to the home of Cairne Bloodhoof to get his "Hoofprint".

Hand this quest in and activate your Matron/Patron title. You've earnt it.

Good luck! I look forward to seeing everyone with the Matron/Patron title.

Please comment if you feel I've missed anything out, or if you have anything to add.

Thanks for the children's week updates. I kept getting rabbit'fied during Easter week at WoW, but hey, I think all the festive stuff really adds to WoW, especially when questing and you have a few extra things to have fun with on the day!

Eph - thanks for that info on the Daily Chores. As soon as I read that, I raced back into the game and knocked them out. :) Of course then I felt like dragging my orphan to Naxx. Oddly enough, although some pets seem to die easily when on raids...those orphans are made of sturdier stuff!

I should be working on my Children's week quest instead of reading hubs!

      Thanks for the overview.

There are 2 available orphans which makes for 2 pets in one year. One in Lowercity Shatttrath and the usual one in SW or Ogri.

Spryte, quite a few people seem to be having that problem, not sure what to do about it yet! Apparently the achievement resets but the achievement points don't, so you are essentially getting free achievement points!! I would expect Blizzard to fix it soon though.

Also, apparently the "Daily Chores" achievement is a lot easier to achieve now. They've fixed it to make it very simple. Just by completing 5 daily quests in the same day it can be done! (blue post on the WoW forums related to this - http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topi... )

I've actually had some problems with the Home Alone quest. Every time I hearth with my orphan out, I get the achievement...but the second one negated the first....and the third restored it...and then the fourth negated it...and the fifth restored it....

I'm seeing an ugly pattern here.

So can you do the quests with the orpahn, hand them in and get the pet and still be able to summon your orphan to complete the rest of the acheivments?

They have added the functionality to get the whistle back (to summon the orphan) even after you have gotten the pet.

      Thanks for your comments Stef.

As far as I know, you must complete the battleground achievements yourself. Which means in the premade it's probably best to try and organise your teams so that you all get a go. Good luck, it's certainly not going to be easy!

Thanks for the guide, the location of all the sweets were what I was after the most. With regards to battleground achievements, do you have to perform the actions yourself. i.e. capturing the flag in EOTS, do you personally have to do it, or can anyone on your side do it and it will count?

Thanks for the guide! I love the events, but am not 80 so haven't had a chance to nab a title yet:( It looks like Noblegarden may be a bit easier for us lowbies (at 70) than the other holidays.
