How to Farm Gold in Blackwing Lair - World of Warcraft: Legion

Updated on July 1, 2017

Blackwing Lair is a level 60 raid that is often overlooked when it comes to gold making methods. This is one of the original raids implemented in World of Warcraft but there were some recent changes made to it which makes it a wonderful place to farm for your monthly WoW Token.

Blackwing Lair features 8 bosses and with the recent updates made to this raid, you will not have any problems in clearing it quick and easy.

The problem with this raid before was with its first boss, Razorgore the Untamed. He had mechanics that did not allow you to finish this encounter solo and you needed someone to come with you just so you can get past the first boss.

Without going too much into the details, at the moment the first boss is easily done solo as the cooldown from the egg-destroying abilty was removed. Also the casting time was removed so right now you can be done with this encounter in a matter of 30-40 seconds.

With this out of the way, the rest of the raid is pretty straight forward. There are no other special encounters and everything can be easily done solo.

What I recommend is to clear the whole dungeon, even the trash mobs leading up Ebonroc and Flamegor. These trash mobs can drop some green BoE items which have an average sale price of 120 gold. They can also drop Elementium Ingot which has an average sale price of 59 gold across all European realms.

As a remined, all the prices I will list are the average sale prices across all European realms. This should give us a general idea on how much the drops sell for but as always, the prices will be different on each realm.

We are farming rare drops, mostly from the last boss, Nefarian. He drops his usual Epic set items which can be used for personal transmog but he also drops some Blue and Green BoE items which sell really well on the Auction House.

These Blue and Green BoE items are sought after transmog pieces which sell from 200 gold each up to 2000 gold each. In the run I did this week, it took me 9 minutes and 29 seconds to finish the whole raid and the amount of gold I got is roughly 2025 gold.

As you can see in the screenshot above, this green piece of BoE gear has an average sale price of 729 gold and there are a lot of other items that can drop and sell for more or less.

Below you can also see an example of a Blue BoE item that dropped for me which has an average sale price of 245 gold. Again, this can either be more or less depending on your server and what item drops but for not even 10 minutes of farming, I would say this is a good time investment.

Nefarian also drops two Sack of Gems, a Green Sack of Gems and a Red Sack of Gems. These sacks contain actual gem materials which can be sold on the Auction House as well. This brings you an extra 50-100 gold depending on your luck.

Again to wrap things up:

Time to complete: 9 minutes 29 seconds / Gold made: 2025 gold.

I hope this guide proves useful for you and below I will put in a video on how to find the entrace of Blackwing Lair for those that forgot or simply never went here.
