Is Twitch Replacing TV?

Updated on January 14, 2015

Let's Talk Twitch!

Twitch is an online service intended for gamers to stream their experience live to an audience. Most people, including myself use twitch to broadcast games from my channel for friends, family and random users online to watch and enjoy my commentary, game play and my general experience.

Twitch is a huge hit because of the sheer scale of games and channels to watch. From SNES games, PC games, even old game boy games! Pretty much any game you want to watch being played or just old games from you're childhood, it's almost guaranteed that somebody, somewhere is playing them on Twitch.

If you've got what it takes, you can also make a very very healthy living from streaming games. People can subscribe to you're channel once you've got your Twitch partnership. If you don't have one or don't know how to get one, look at my previous Hub article, (How to get Twitch Partnered, Make money playing games!) here:

The most Important thing is the streamers. For a viewer if you're looking to kill a few hours away from the TV, Here's who I personally love to watch!

Streamer No.1 Krypto9095

Krypto made his name small time from streaming Indie game Outlast on the Xbox One. His hyperactive personality and witty comments soon made his view counts rise. I personally have been watching Krypto for a very long time now and seen the progress he's made with my own eyes, from going to under 5 viewers on twitch, to a Twitch Partnership in 2014, youtube videos receiving thousands of views, to becoming a featured creator for Microsoft Xbox One community app Upload. The lyrics from the song 'Started from the bottom now we here' seems to fit this guy perfectly. Less than 10 views on twitch streaming indie games, to being partnered, having thousands of followers and fans, and also a full capacity crew on GTA 5 Online named Krypto9095 Darkness!

Kryptos' rise to fame didn't just come from being funny and interacting with his viewers. This guy is the most prolific C4 killer on Battlefield 4 ranked 1st in the whole world. Impressive huh? You don't know the half of it, seriously. Numerous features on Upload came soon after some absolutely outrageous kills with C4 and killstreaks. (All with really funny commentary too) I'll have to urge all you readers to follow Krypto and check out his videos, Twitter and especially his Twitch.

I can assure you this streamer is hugely active with all of his fans, doesn't leave anybody out, and plays with all his followers almost everyday. You'll soon see the huge sense of community in the stream chats and you'll definitely give the channel follow, maybe even a sub!

Streamer No.2 Castro1021

Castro is Streamer partnered with Twitch with an astounding 307,000 followers and almost 6 MILLION views on his Twitch channel. Castro is a streamer who is almost guaranteed to get over 10,000 viewers a day. Yes, i meant to type 10,000. He is a specialist in streaming FIFA 2015 and focuses on the Ultimate Team side of the game. Castro's stream is made up of pack openings, playing matches and building amazing teams. His football knowledge and love for the game shine through and his crazy and funny personality are what keeps the view count rising and it's the sense of community and hype that keeps the viewers in. Castros' streams are perfect if your a FIFA fan, need a laugh, or just want tips on your own team.

Castros' not all about the money though, his donations go back into making the stream more enjoyable, FIFA points, giveaways and for example the 'green screen' all because of the viewers. One of his most popular streams, #4DaKids was a 50 hour charity stream for charity. Yes, 50 hours. Ouch. I have enough respect for this guy though, some shave heads for charity, some run marathons. This guy raised over a crazy $50,000 dollars for charity by streaming. Respect Castro!

Streamer No.3. LIRIK

LIRIK, One of Twitch's greatest, has an average of 20,000 viewers. WOW. LIRIK has a massive 611,000 followers and 60 million views on his channel. This guy right here is the one that supplies constant laughs and keeps me tuned in for hours at a time. He doesn't play the same games as me, he doesn't have the same interests as me, he doesn't play with followers on games like GTA and FIFA like the other 2 i've mentioned. But, seriously, some of the things you experience on LIRIK's streams are not only hilarious and stupid, but also enjoyable and fun.

LIRIK is by far the best Role Playing streamer I've ever watched. I watched him play the ArmA III Atlis life mod for hours on end with constant laughs. Some of the people and things that happened are once in a lifetime on games like that and are amazing when they happen. Too many laughs!

LIRIK was already huge when I started to watch his streams so i honestly can't tell you his background story or what high school he attended. What i can tell you, is after only 3 weeks of watching this guy, he's involved in my top 3. Just because i've had a lot more than 3 weeks worth of laughs from his streams. LIRIK when online is always one of the top streamers on Twitch so he's never hard to find. Guaranteed that if you don't like the game, Don't like PC gaming or whatever console he's using at the time, you'll like the stream.

LIRIK specializes in ArmA III, mods like Battle Royale but will play and try anything! While on his channel, check out and watch his past broadcasts and highlights too!

well yeah, we all expected that i guess eventually when it became popular.

For games especially, Twitch Viewing and streaming has become a huge part of my life.

Now that it was bought by the big shot we all know I guess its chances have even improved at succeeding.

It's just that I don't see the majority of people jumping on the bandwagon, twitch caters to a specific group of individuals while TV targets the masses.
