It's Been Monday all Week

Updated on May 23, 2012

Mid week blues

So it's Wednesday afternoon, 2 days closer to the weekend and a holiday weekend at that (well in Barbados at least) and all I can think is gosh, it feels like Monday...

Its a vicious cycle, where we are excited when Friday afternoon comes, we have big plans for the weekend and in the blink of an eye, the 2 days we have away from the grind of work seem to have disappeared.

They go by so fast, we almost can't recall what we did on which day...we vaguely recall, Friday evening as we rushed out the door to the weekend ahead, then suddenly...its Saturday night...where on earth did Saturday go???...Then as if to say we slept for 24 hrs, its Sunday night...the night before Monday...the night before we have to wake up early, get the kids out of bed, pack lunches, load into the car, sit in traffic for an hour (and I live on island the size of a pin head when compared to US) just to start the cycle again.

Who on earth invented the 5 day work week and a 2 day weekend, why wasn't it the other way around?...where we have 5 days to do our laundry, cut the lawn, go to the beach, chill with friends, relax and veggout...we have been given just 2 days to get all that done, so we drag ourselves into the office every Monday morning wishing we had just 1 more day so that we can relax and sleep....one more day when we could recover after cramming 5 days of chores into just 2....1 day to just veggout.

Well sad to say, that is not the case...and its still Wednesday afternoon, 2 days before the weekend and the middle of the week.

I am also from Barbados and unfortunately that Bank Holiday we have on Monday will zoom by just as fast as Saturday and Sunday do!

Isn't it Friday in Barbados all the time? I mean you guys have Sun and Sand and great temperatures all year long so to me would be Friday every day of the week, but that just my thought.

Hi Caseworker...sorry to hear about your short work week...you know, with the way things are all over the world with people working shorter and shorter weeks, or losing their jobs, as tired as I am, I do still feel blessed to have to drag myself into work...

So true! However at the moment I have the 4 1/2 day weekend, spending 2 1/2 days in work- on the down side- I only get half the pay!
