Some of these achievements may give away certain plot points or secrets of the game. Proceed with caution.

Teach the Jeweler a design.
Unlocks the Artisanal banner shape.
Updated: This and the following "Teach the Jeweler X designs" all count only from world drop recipes, just like the Blacksmith. You won't be finding the first recipe for a good while in your first playthrough, considering the Flawless gems are the lowest level recipe drops.
Teach the Jeweler 3 designs.
Probably going to be easiest to find all of the Flawless designs first, so you'll have mostly those by the time you unlock this achievement. Designs don't really seem to start dropping until waaaaay end game. Prepare to wait a while to even get started on these, unless you can farm the massive amounts of gold needed to trade for them, when you can even find one of these recipes for sale. As the game gets older and more people find it, the prices will eventually drop, but expect this to take many months, if not a year until after release to become readily available.
Teach the Jeweler 6 designs.
You will have now learned half the total world drop recipes the Jewler can learn.
Teach the Jeweler 9 designs.
Unlocks the Rich banner shape.
This is going to be considerably difficult. Will post updates on the rarity of the Radiant Star recipes when news of them showing up actually surfaces.
Teach the Jeweler 12 designs.
Wouldn't be surprised if the first players to do this received a Feat of Strength. Hundreds of hours looking through loot on high end runs or countless piles of gold spent through the auction house looks certain in the future of those who aim for this achievement. There are only 12 designs that drop in the world total, meaning this makes your Jeweler by all intents and purposes, perfect.
Covetous, Covetous Shen!
Acquire the Jeweler.
You first acquire the Jeweler during Act II, Quest 7, Blood and Sand. This is when your achievement will unlock.
In the Loupe
Level up the Jeweler.
Unlocks the Diamonds banner pattern.
After acquiring Covetous Shen, you will need to spend 5,000 gold to take him to the next level of 2, Journeyman. There are no stages like with the Blacksmith, each training nets a whole level.
I Like Jewels.
Reach level 5 with your Jeweler.
The total training cost to reach level 5, Grand Master rank, is 30,000 gold along with 20 Pages of Jewelcrafting.
Just a Hobby.
Raise the Jeweler to level 10.
Unlocks the Star of Xiansi banner sigil.
The total training cost to reach level 10, Exalted rank, is 140,000 gold along with 20 Pages of Jewelcrafting, 20 Tomes of Jewelcrafting and 40 Tomes of Secrets.
Unlocks the Diamond Stars banner pattern.
Basically this unlocks the first time you craft anything with Covetous, since all he crafts is upgrades to gems using 3 of the same type of the rank below the gem you are crafting. Similar to the way the Horadric cube worked in Diablo 2. When you first find him, he will be able to combine chipped gems for you, which you should already have enough to do so. If not you most likely will by the end of Act II.
Craft a Radiant Gem.
The radiant gems are those capable of being crafted at level 5 of the Jeweler.
A Fistful of Gems
Combine each of the following gem types.
Unlocks the Gems banner accent.
A relatively easy to get achievement, just requiring you craft any quality of each type of gem. Buy or find some chips to craft flawed gems to do this cheap.
Perfect as Tears
Craft a maximum level gem.
Unlocks the crafty banner sigil.
Not going to be easy, besides not dropping within several tiers of the max quality, you will have to find the top three tiers of gem quality designs as world drops in Diablo 3. These will be highly sought after and potentially a cash cow on the auction house.
Like Stars in the Sky
Create a maximum level gem of the following types.
- Radiant Star Amethyst
- Radiant Star Emerald
- Radiant Star Ruby
- Radiant Star Topaz
This is going to be the penultimate challenge for the Jeweler, requiring you max out his level, find all the world drop recipes (since you need to craft up to Radiant) and then gather enough supplies to actually craft these items.
Just Like New.
Unsocket an item.
Unlocks the Squared Diamonds banner pattern.
For a gold fee, Covetous can remove a gem you have socketed into an item, returning you both the gem and item unharmed. A useful service you will probably find yourself taking advantage of during the normal course of play. You can socket and unsocket an item once you find Covetus, pulling out a chipped gem for a cheap 200 gold.
