Chase McCain's first day on the job isn't going well. He's foiled a bank robbery, sure, but his former love interest may have just made off with his car, leaving him stranded in the lovely Fort Meadows. He needs a new car, and the only advice he can get is to build a Call-In Point at the Fort Meadows Diner down the road. Yay.

Wander down the hill apace. The owner of the gas station here has been struck with disaster, as his gas pumps are in pieces. Rebuild them for him and he'll give you a Super Brick, a shining, eight-pegged piece of glory that can help you purchase the Call-In Point. If you've been destroying stuff aplenty, this should give you enough bricks to construct the Call-In Point. If you haven't, enter Detective Scan from the shine point nearby to find another Super Brick near the diner ahead. Use the bricks on the blank point to the left of the gas station to create the Call-In Point, which will unlock Super Builds, the Trooper car, and your first Gold Brick. Woo!

Ellie will call in after you summon your first car from the Call-In Point, alerting Chase to another robbery in progress, this one requiring the use of a Grapple Gun to foil. You'll have to meet with Sheriff Huckleberry to get the gun. Hop in your new car and follow the path that appears. Along the way you'll find another Super Build point for a second Call-In Point; if you don't have enough bricks, it will be marked on your map for later. Pull into the police station at the end of the path and the sheriff will give you a Grapple Gun. You can use the gun to, you know, grapple, as well as blow stuff up from a distance.

Grab the Super Brick from atop the stables in the rear of the police station before getting back in your car. Ride back to Cherry Tree Hills and head for Jenny's Diner. Once there, use the Grapple Gun on the grapple point above the drive-thru to get up to the roof, specifically atop the burger, and scan the two buildings across the street for criminals. The guys you're looking for are on the roof of the right building. Hop down to the bottom of the left building and grapple your way up to the waypoint.

Continue grappling from balcony to balcony until you make your way to the top balcony, just below the rooftop. Bust up the furniture here to create a catapult that can get you to the opposite building.

Now the chase is on. The thieves will split up along the rooftops, forcing you to hunt them down before they can get away. Slide and jump your way to the right to find the first guy, whom you can beat up atop the opposite building. Keep going until you have to swing across a series of flagpoles; right beside where you land you'll find a series of vines. Climb them to a higher portion of the building and begin making your way left, across another trampoline, to find the second perp.

Two down. Run to the rear wall, where you'll see a thin layer of blue and white blocks lining two facing sets of walls. You can wall jump up these to reach the roof, where the third thief is waiting. Beat him up and run right to find the final thief, the leader, who will give you a merry chase before he goes down.

Follow him to the next rooftop. Hit B repeatedly to scale the steep rooftop to the apex and slide down the other side. A news helicopter will show up; use its nose to grapple to the opposite building and keep climbing. Scale the next building to the roof and use the catapult to launch to the opposite roof, where the chase will end.

(Along the way you'll see crates and bits of machinery laying about. Three of them can be formed into antennae when broken up. Do this to earn a Police Shield Piece. They're easy to find so long as you bash everything in sight, which you should be doing to earn studs and bricks anyway.)

Chase will get some exciting info about the thief's boss - no less than Rex Fury! - and the mission will come to an end. You'll earn a Gold Brick for your hard work, and your next destination will be set: a prison. Yay!

Extras

After you've completed LEGO City Undercover you'll have a slew of new outfits and abilities. You can revisit this special assignment and do a whole bunch of new stuff. This part of the guide assumes that you've acquired every power in the game.

  • There's a teleporter near the beginning. Use it to find a door you can pry open and find a Green Color Swapper. Shoot the red light back near the first teleporter to open the doors into the offices to your right and left.
  • Inside the right office is a fuse box. Thinker with it to find the Bastion collectible.
  • Inside the left office is a potted plant. Water it for studs and for one of five.
  • There's a plant you can water near where you fight the second thief. It gives you studs and two of five.
  • North of this plant is a room you can break into. In a vault here is the Snakes Squealer collectible.
  • You can Chicken Glide down and to the left of this building to the top of the previous building. Up here is a door containing a purple stud, another plant to water, and three air conditioners you can convert into solar panels. The latter will activate a wind machine you can use to reach the pinnacle of the building and find a Red Brick.
  • On the roof with the water tower you'll see a drill point. Go through it to unleash a water spout that will take you to the top of the water tower. Hit the switch up here to release a bunch of parts under the tower. Assemble these into an RC car you can use to get into the fenced-in box and snag the Conrad Peters collectible.
  • On the roof down from the water tower is another plant you can water. The last pot is across the flag poles to the right. Get all five to snag a Police Shield Piece.
  • There are three satellite dishes you can get working by tinkering with fuse boxes: one to the right of where you fight the second thief, one on the top of the same building (check the top-left side of the roof), and the last near a catapult point atop the building covered in gardens. Activating all three will earn you a Police Shield Piece.
  • There's a door you can break open near the third satellite to get at a purple stud. You can also get at two blue studs via a red pot in the top-right corner of the roof.
  • At the top and to the left of the long wall jumping climb, after catching the third thief, is a space crate. Activate it to get some dynamite. You can use the dynamite to blow up a fan covering a ladder on the section of roof that forms the next gap to the right. Drop down into the office to find the Broadcaster collectible.

Like every special assignment, you'll earn a Gold Brick for getting all of the Police Shield Pieces and another for collecting enough studs to fill the stud meter. LEGO City Hero indeed.
