The Amazing Leapfrog Leapster Explorer

LeapFrog Leapster Explorer Learning Game System will help get your child away from their video games. And learn at the same time!

It is a fun handheld game and they won’t believe -or know -its educational at all! They will learn school skills from the animated games which cover language and reading skills to math and science.

You can put creativity and fun at your kids' fingertips -- and watch them learn in the process. This battery-operated game goes where your kids go! It comes with two pre-installed educational games, and many more are available

Pluses

The console is comfortably curved, good for smaller hands to grab onto.

It has a full-color touch screen and sound. (You’ll like the volume control and headphone jack!).

You control it with the stylus and with the videogame-style D pad and other buttons.

How Do You Use the Leapfrog Leapster 2 ?

This is a great kids handheld game that optionally connects to the LeapFrog Learning Path online that lets you track what your child is learning.

Youir kids can definitely play and learn school skills on the go or connect online for extra activities and rewards.

There is a library of over 30 learning games with many much loved characters and cover language arts, reading, mathematics and science.

Leapfrog Leapster 2 is pre-loaded with two games:

The "Dragons to the Rescue! Learning Game," is "video game" like with four levels, the first helps identify letters and numbers, the highest spelling and multiplication practice. All done while navigating a dragon past big storm clouds and collecting "magic" crystals.

The "Creativity Castle Art Studio" is an art program. Players select a background scene to "color" using the stylus and "decorate" with fun animated stamps. Basically aimed at fostering creativity. But "Dragons" is fun enough to keep even an adult amused (for a short while)

You can also purchase game cartridges.

I would recommend ultimatey buying an SD card to take advantage of its bigger memory and functionality that lets you save artwork, download new games, or take advantage of the online "Learning Path". This online program allows you to register and upload your children's Leapster 2 profiles to show you their activities and progress.

You can plug the console -- with the included USB cable -- into your PC for your children to view and print "rewards" for completing different game levels (for Dragons to the Rescue, they're certificates of achievement) or to print pictures to color with real crayons You must install the Leapster 2 software on your PC off the included CD-ROM.

How Do You Set up the LeapFrog Leapster2?

It's simple dahlink!

The 2 AA batteries (not included) are easy to install -thank goodness.

Once turned on , navigating through the screens to create profiles for up to 3 children (which come in useful when accessing online features) is easy.

After this set-up, a menu will appear, where you can choose to play the pre-loaded games, go online, or insert a game cartridge.

The Skinny on the Leapfrog Leapster 2

Without a doubt, the Leapster 2 is a nice, stylish game that is age-appropriate for young children. It is easy to handle and, for the most part, easy to use. The games available include many popular titles (Cars, Backyardigans, Disney Princesses, Dora, Thomas, etc.).

The preinstalled games are pretty fun and exciting...kids really get into them. The device itself seems to be sturdily built. The colors and sound are great and the shape is better than the older version, the screen is just as nice, if not better than before. The stylus pen is secured by a flexible, thin fabric-like cord rather than a heavy electronic cord, so it is easier to maneuver and it doesn't seem like it will break as easily.

You can download additional free games from the Internet for it. The built-in games stay available in Leapster 2, even when a game cartridge is inserted (an improvement over the original Leapster). Its great for in the car and during wait-times, such as when waiting for the food to arrive at a restaurant).

The Leapfrog Leapster 2 is fantastic, it’s been dropped several times and nothing has happened to it. Its very educational too, he's learned to write all of the letters in he alphabet and do addition and subtraction. It really makes learning fun. Better than a game boy.

Leapfrog Leapster 2 -Helping Your Child Learn

The Leapfrog Leapster Learning Game System teaches by utilizing the fact that your child loves to play! With this toy kids can play fun, action-packed games that teach key skills for pre-K to around 4th grade. It’s very flexible as it has multiple learning levels, tailored tutorials and a wide assortment of games that take advantage of the versatile control pad and the simple stylus will enable kids to learn essential skills while playing the games they love. With Leapster, the key is learning!

Leapster Is Growing Fast.  Since 1985, Leapfrog has taken seriously its commitment to provide high quality and fun educational toys for children. They have experts in child psychology, teaching and technology, the company is a sought after and popular educational toy make!

LeapFrog saw the growing need to develop a wide array of toys, each designed to “hit” a particular skill set and age group. There is a LeapFrog toy for every level of infant, toddler and elementary school child. In addition, LeapFrog is multi lingual e.g. Spanish and many other foreign languages.

Kids Can Learn While Playing.

Children or anyone learn best when they don't think they're learning. Play gives you a perfect chance to teach and learn. Educational toys popularity (Like Leapster) has soared off this idea.  Parents can see the benefits and most times that will far outweigh the price tag.

Electronic edu-toys are probably the most sought after. Since we live in a modern advancing technologically world, getting kids interested in technology is advantageous and somewhat inevitable.

Some toys are appropriate for all ages and can make great gifts for children. The Leapfrog Leapster gaming system falls into this category.  And they have series of products so you can easily transition from one to the next as they cross a wide range of ages.
