Lego Indiana Jones 2 Walkthrough 9: Temple of Doom, the First Five Levels
Welcome to the Walkthrough for Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues.
This guide is in thirteen posts, with two posts for the six parts of the game, and then one more post for the Bonus Levels. If you need to jump to another post sometime, you can do so here.
For each level, I will first discuss the first five levels of the hub, and then discuss the Treasure Chest Levels of that Hub.
It is in the Treasure Chest level where you can learn the location of the Red Bricks, Blue Bricks, Green Bricks, plus all the Characters and Vehicles.
Creator Level not covered (yet!)
You’ll have to do something before you go to the first level. Willie needs to jump up at a certain place, and then step on a button. A hatch will open before you, and a whip knob will come out. Take the whip knob over to a green circle on a wall, and Indy can use his whip to open the door.
Enter the garage and go to Level one.
This is one of those smash enemy vehicles and get as many coins to make True Adventurer. Start with four rickshaws.
You will then move on to two rickshaws, two cars, and two motorcycles.
You will then need to take out three trucks and four rickshaws. The trucks are hard because they have a metal coating. However, if you bump them against something, then the armor will fall off. It will be easy to bash them off of the road then.
The last is a limo that will have the same armor plating as the truck. Bash it against something and run into it a few more times, and you will end the level.
Back to the Hub
Go ahead and follow the coins down the river until you come to a city area. You will see the entrance to the next level there.
In this area, you will need to get the three Sankara stones back to where they belong.
Go ahead and get all the coins that you can in the area. Turn into Short Round and fix up a blue engine parts in the corner by the water wheel. Use the Indy’s whip on the water wheel there, and some water will start flowing to a palm with no leaves. It will grow flowers and bananas, and you can get the flowers for coins, and grab a banana to give to a monkey in a nearby tree. The monkey will throw you a Sankara stone, so put it in the right place.
You should grab a banana for the second monkey, and here’s how to get to him. There is a torch in one corner all the way to the left, and that torch must be grabbed and put underneath a pot that is further to the left. The steam will cause Indy to rise up like a fan, and he can use the whip knob on the tree to cross to the other side.
Indy needs to push a box off to the side, and you should switch to one of the other characters and put the debris together to form and elevator. Make certain both characters are standing on the elevator, and switch back to Indy. Indy can turn a key to make the elevator go up, and switch to Willie.
Willie can then jump on a bar, and over a wall to another bar. Keep going to another bar, and you will arrive at the top of a roof. Smash a rope ladder, and it will come down and be ready for the other characters to use. If you need to, grab a banana, and give it to the monkey, and put the Sankara stone in its proper place.
For the last monkey, you will need to go right, and there is a weak section of the floor that you will need to fall through. Smash everything there, and you will find a sword and a key. Grab the sword and cut through a rope holding up the grated wall. It will be obvious when you see it.
Go ahead and grab the key and use it on the lock nearby. You will notice that it moves a basket above them. In this one corner of the building, you can destroy it, and build a troff. Short Round needs to come in and use the small door to get up to that second story. Short Round needs to get in the basket, and then switch to a character who will turn the key and allow Shorty to cross over. He then needs to knock over a ladder, and Indy can use the whip-knob. This will open a door in order to get a shovel.
You have the option of getting more coins here. You have to have one of the characters (not Indy) turn the crank to make the basket move. Indy will automatically get in the basket. Very quickly switch to Indy and ride the basket back. Use the whip hook, and the door will open. Indy can enter into a small room and smash things.
Go on and get in the elephant’s pen and dig up a diggable spot. You will find one of those red and green triangular things, and build it. You can open the gate with it, and ride the elephant. If you have a banana ready, you can get the Sankara stone and put it back in the proper place.
Back to the Hub
Follow the coins to the next level. (I stepped on the First Blue Brick. Log this and move on.) I also accidentally bumped the First Green Brick.) You will need to jump on an elephant, because the entrance to this level has an orange pressure pad that the elephant can activate.
Malice at the Palace
This is one of those kill as many enemies as you can. It starts with six of them.
It then turns to three of one kind of bad guy and three of another. There is one guy on the balcony, that you need to take out by grabbing one of the cups on the table and hurling it at him.
By the third round, there is a guy with a black sword. You may remember from the Raiders of the Lost Ark level that a sword is required to banish someone with a sword. There are some riflemen that can be taken out by whipping the whip-knobs underneath them, and then they will fall to the floor and can be taken out. I found that these riflemen have to be hit with something first, like a cup or a whip.
Then in the last, the worst thing is the black swordsmen. The level will eventually end.
Back to the Hub
You will want to take a downward path, and this will lead straight down to the next level, a cave.
In this level, you can get as many coins as you can. Go on and smash the boxes, and build the debris into a crane. This will haul out a skeleton with a treasure chest, and it can be smashed into coins.
Take Wille up the ladder all the way to the left, and have her jump to a bar that is above that area. She can shimmy across to another area, and then push a box off a smooth area. Another character can assemble the box into a ladder.
Short Round needs to come up and take the small door into a room. He can then turn a crank, and this will cause a section to move. Indy and Wille seem to automatically jump on this section if you’re playing solo. When you get to the other side, a rope ladder will automatically be knocked down.
Indy needs to use his whip to cause two platforms to come down. He or another character needs to jump on them, to get to where the bomb throwing guy is. That character needs to touch a blue basket that is hanging there, and there will be a key revealed when the basket falls.
Use the key on the crank, and it will cause a cage on chains to arise, and a blue gear will come out. That gear needs to go to the right, and placed in a proper place.
At this point in time in the game, some bad guys will come out with some hats. Take care of some of the guys and grab a hat. Go down in front of the statue, and hit the proper button to signal it. This will create and elevator, and one of the characters can get the gear on the higher level.
You will notice one corner that can be smashed. There will be some studs there, including the purple stud.
Get the last gear by going all the way to the right and have Indy climb the ladder. He then needs to use his whip to cross over and get the gear, and put it in the proper place. The only thing left is to have Short Round fix this machine, and this will end the level.
Back to the Hub
As you exit this level, you will have the Maharajah, and you should select him, as he is your ticket to the next level. You can keep going to the right and to the bridge. You will see a guy with a lever atop the thing, and you can use him. Just hurl the black sleep stuff at him, and you can take control of his movements, thus allowing him to pull the lever. A platform will come up, and the characters can now face the last level.
Here, Mola Ram rides a statue of Kali. It looks bad, but it is easy if you know how. Start by collecting all the studs including the purple ones, to become True Adventurer.
Then grab a waterbottle (there are many a around), and hurl it Kali’s foot. Kali will then “cool off” as the fire within him will die out. Short round needs to go to the foot and enter in, like he would go through one of those short doors. He will then appear at the top Mola Ram, where he can punch his lights out.
The Kali Statue will crumble, and a whip-knob will appear. Indy has to get it, and it will cause an arm to fall off.
Simply repeat this process. As Kali looses more arms, he gets more deadly in his attacks, and it is hard to dodge him. However, it isn’t impossible.
Eventually, you will get him so good, that there will be a whip-knob on top of his head that, when pulled, will cause all his lava to spill out, ending the level and the first five.
