Are your kids a big fan of the SpongeBob SquarePants TV show? Most parents probably wonder what makes the show tick in kids heads, but it certainly has a massive cult standing with kids who love the show and want all the toys and products that are a spin off from the show.

Produced by Nickelodeon SpongeBob SquarePants is probably one of the biggest children’s animated television shows on TV.

Aired first in 1999 it has grown in popularity to become extremely popular in many parts of the world, to get to the place where it is considered the big time TV series of all time.

The story is centered on SpongBob who is supposedly a square a 'sea sponge' living in an idyllic life in fantasy location at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean called Bikini Bottom.

The cult following level of kids who love this show can only be called spectacular.

Not limited to a particular age category the popularity has spawned scores of products sporting the hero SpongeBob.

Through this has evolved one of the most successful partnerships for merchandising TV characters between Lego and Squarepants.

The toy sets themed after Lego SpongeBob SquarePants has now joined the huge successes like other sets themed by Lego such as Lego Star Wars, Harry Potter, Batman and Lego Indiana Jones.

Toy sets with the Lego SpongeBob SquarePants theme was first introduced in 2006 alongside the Lego Avatar and the Lego Air bender sets.

Many of these themed set and mini figures get their inspiration from the final three episodes of these animated cartoons.

They have sold by the millions and come close to being the biggest selling toy item of the millennium though not all of the Lego SpongeBob SquarePants items are currently available in the various worldwide stores.

The Build – Bob set creates great interest as it allows the builder to take a look inside the head of Lego SpongeBob SquarePants. Another character that finds his place in this set is Plankton whose residence is inside SpongeBob brains.

The SpongeBob figure mini figure stands 11 inches tall with his mouth shooting out plastic bubbles even as his eyes spin around wildly. With multiple assembling possibilities for children this set has 445 pieces to it. The recommended age group that is said to enjoy this set is between 7 -12 years.

These sets are always sold with a manual, which has a comprehensive guide which walks the kids through the assembling using three-dimensional diagrams.

These intricate and colorful sets can be combined with other sets like Krusty Krab, Mrs. Puff’s Boating School, Chum Bucket and many more.

January 2009 also saw the release of two sets featured in the episode that was aired in December of 2008. They are titled “Good neighbors in Bikini Bottom” and “Krusty Krab Adventures”.

Of all, the most popular of these Lego sets are adventures of SpongeBob SquarePants at bikini bottom.

This set has Lego SpongeBob’s house which is a pineapple, the tiki home of squidward and includes Patricks Star Rock all happening on the ocean floor.

The collection also features Squidward, Gary mini figures and scores of jellyfish.

The motorboat belonging to Patrick even comes with an actual pull back machine. Wow!

      Oooooo, who lives in a Pineapple under the sea? Spongebob Squarepants! I knew spongebob was popular but I never knew there were so much great merchandise! I think my little cousin could spend long hours playing with this spongebob lego set! :)
