Minecraft Hopes: New Mob Possibilities

Updated on June 12, 2016

Strays and Husks

With the inclusion of the new mobs, the Stray and the Husk, in Minecraft 1.10, comes some really good possibilities of new mobs that were based on the older ones. The stray is a new variant of the skeleton found in colder biomes that, if shot by one of its arrows, the player will be given slowness. The husk is also a new variant of an old mob, the zombie, that can be found in hotter biomes and inflicts the player with hunger if attacked. The husks also have the ability to be in the sun without catching fire, unlike its older friend. These new mobs open up a world of new possibilities.

We Should Have Seen These Coming!

Though these new mobs seem to be revolutionary, this sort of things has already been included before! A prime example is the spider and the cave spider. The cave spider has been in Minecraft for a while now and can be found in abandoned mine shafts. These little guys inflict poison on the player. The cave spiders are only a slight size and palette swap to the spider with an added poison effect, does this sound familiar? That's right! Just like the strays and the husks. There are a few more examples, but I think you get the point.

Do You Know What This Means?

Though this has already happened with a couple of mobs, there are still a few that could get these variants with new abilities. The first the comes to mind would be a new variant of the enderman. These mobs could possibly be shorter, a different color, and inflict nausea to the player, making it difficult to see when attacked. What new mob would you like to see? Leave a comment below and tell me about it!
