The Simpsons: Tapped Out (2012: iOS & 2013: Android) is your typical tap-and-build-an-empire game, but with a Simpsons style twist. Homer gets distracted by his Happy Little Elves MyPad game and he causes a meltdown at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant that destroys the entire town. He must then rbuild the town and bring the citizens back, starting with Lisa after building his house, then the Kwik-E Mart.

The game was developed by Electronic Arts (EA) and released as an iOS exclusive. After nearly a year, EA released the game on the Google Play/Android market. The app is updated quite often and there is always new characters, buildings, or decorations released with the playing of new episodes every week. They also update with new items for holidays!

  • Treehouse of Horror (Halloween)
    -New fences: chain link and iron bar
    -"Spooky Tree:" dead tree with a skeleton hanging from it
    -Buildings: SpringField Cemetary, Pet Cemetary, Heck House, Subatomic Supercollider, House of Evil, and the Bad Dream House
    -Characters: Talking Krusty Doll, Burns Monster, the Raven, Kang, Mayan God, and the costumes Mayan Marge, Mayan Homer, Witch Marge, and Devil Flanders

    -Ability to kill zombies and to use toilet paper and eggs to prank friends' towns

    -Balloons of Santa's Little Helper, Snowball II, Itchy, Scratchy, and Blinky

  • Christmas
    -Buildings: Mapple Store, Barney's Bowl-a-Rama, and Try & Save. Homes also had Christmas decorations
    -Characters: Barney, Blue, Pink, and Purple Funzos, Santa's Little Helper, and a costume for home - Santa Homer
    -Decorations: Holiday Tree and Reindeer
    -Level 24
    -Mystery Stockings and Santa Coins, which can be collected from houses with Christmas decor
  • Valentine's Day
    -Buildings: Phineas Q Butterfat's, Howard's Flowers, Sir Putt-A-Lots, Golf Castle
    -Characters: Shauna
    -Decorations: Rose Buses, Cherub Topiaries, and the "I Choo-Choo-Choo-Choose You" Train
    -Quest: Help Bart find love. Will he and Shauna finally have a chance at love or will Bart be heartbroken again?
    -Event: Visit friend's towns and give Valentines to recieve Heart currency
    -Sights: Popsycle Tower and Escalator to Nowhere
  • St. Patrick's Day
    -Building: O'Flannagan's Pub
    -Characters: Tom O'Flannagan and a Leprechaun and shamrock topiary
    -Decoration: Wishing Well
    -Quest: Homer and O'Flannagan must promote their bar, and Homer helps set Willie and O'Flannagan's differences aside.
    -Sights: 50ft. Magnifying Glass

The game originally had a level cap of 20. Players believed that there was a Level 21 available, but complained to Electronic Arts when they did not level up after accumulating the experience needed. With the themed updates, levels were added up to 26.

The Simpson's: Tapped Out can be downloaded for free on Apple's App Store and Android's Google Play Store.
