My thoughts on Sonic Boom Designs "Tails"

Updated on March 27, 2015

Hello Once Again.

In case you are new here let me explain. This is close look at some of the new designs given to the Sonic the Hedgehog characters for the upcoming Sonic Boom game and cartoon series. Last time I had a close look at Sonic the Hedgehog himself which if have read it great I love you for it and if you haven't then you should check it out. In the mean time we have more then a few things to cover with tails new look and I am sure you all have things you all would like to do beyond reading this hub so I will try not to keep you to long. First let's have a look at the obvious.

What is Sonic Boom?

Sonic Boom is an upcoming game coming out for the Nintendo Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS. It is meant to be a sub franchise to the main Sonic the Hedgehog games not a reboot but a whole new thing altogether. For the game the characters have been given new designs and in some cases whole new abilities. There are at least five playable characters, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and a new character Sticks the Jungle Badger Only on the 3DS). With the newbie being the exception, they have all been given a new look for the game as a means of trying reconnect with children today and in a since reintroduce the world to Sonic the Hedgehog without completely throwing out the old method and design in which some of us have in fact grown to love.

Coming out for the Wii U and 3DS aas well as a cartoon.

What about the others?

I don't plane on leaving anybody out, however that would make this a very long hub. I am going to come to each one at a time that way we can take our time and really look at them.

Play the game and see tails in action

Miles "Tails" Prower (Classic)

When Tails made his first appearance in Sonic the Hedgehog in 1992 he was given a simple friendly cartoon fox design only with two tails hence why he is called Tails. I like this look for him, it is not to complicated, also he somehow looks softer and more cuddly then he does in later carnations throughout the years. Tails has always been an genius inventor even though he mostly there to get kidnapped and rescued in the old games in Tails Adventure he had built submarines and many other unique things including the famous plane the Tornado used in Sonic and Knuckles.

Miles "Tails" Prower (Sonic Riders)

Black band on the gloves different shoes and goggles, I have to be frank, this makes since for a flyer and craftsmen although I don't see him ever using the goggles but you gotta figure that in the workshop he would wear something to protect his eyes. I like this design for him and it is a shame that it is only in the Sonic Riders series however perhaps that is what makes it so nice and special. Perhaps it is more then he needs but I like it. Although I think a little aviators helmet would just be the cutest thing on him.

Miles "Tails" Prower (Modern)

Like many of the Sonic characters, the design that would become the standard for Tails was first introduced in Sonic Adventure. In Sonic Adventures he appeared more of a gold but in time this was turned more of a bright yellow, but other then small things like that he has kept the same look ever since with his cotton white gloves, white and red shoes with white socks. Through the many games and comics and Sonic X cartoon, when we think of Tails this is the look and face we picture. But tails is not just Sonic's best friend but also the only one who can challenge Dr Eggman's intellect often building things mostly planes and detectors, even if you wouldn't thought that from looking at him.

I think maybe and a more thorough redesign then Sonic maybe. Tails now has thicker possibly welding gloves a belt and pack filled with tools no doubt, goggles and like Sonic he has bandages around his shoes which may still be red. Honestly for a guy who works with his hands making or tinkering with planes and who know what else, this getup makes allot of sense. I am not sure what is up with the bandages but if he was trying to do things with Sonic then it is hard to say just what he might have done to hang with his friend. I look forward to what a geared up Tails like this might do in the upcoming Sonic Boom.

Not sure what I was expecting but he did use the goggles in the game and he pulls his buddy bot right out of the bag making this a practical getup rather then just fashion..

My Rating

5 stars for Sonic Boom Design "Tails"

The Verdict

To be honest, I like the new desgin for him it makes sense to me that he should have his tools on him at all times sense dealing with an enemy like Dr Eggamn tends to call for a mechanic like Tails all to often and sense he can fly and is a pilot it makes sense that he would were goggles. I understand that Sonic Boom is merely an alternate series but if this where to become the regular look, I wouldn't mind one bit.

What do you think?

Like the new look?

Final Thoughts

Sense Sonic and Dr Eggman first appeared in the same game I guess I should have done him second but oh well Tails deserved it more being the good sport he is. Dr Robotnik or Eggman is next nonetheless until then check out my thought on Sonic if you haven't, and if you have then I love you for it and watch out for Eggman.
