Nintendo 64 Games You Need To Play

Updated on August 29, 2012

Great Games for the Nintendo 64 Console

One of the best ways to remember your childhood is to play some of those great video games you used to play. Back in the mid 1990's Nintendo came out with the N64. It had the best graphics and sound that money could buy at the time. The games were ground breaking with such in depth plots and amazing replay-ability. Some of the best video games ever created were on this platform.

What I consider to be the best Nintendo 64 games.

I love the Nintendo 64, and I wanted to share with you guys a few great games that you should check out. I am not going to mention Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Goldeneye or Zelda as they are to obvious. I wanted to go for great games, but ones that I feel do not get as much attention as they deserve.

Diddy Kong Racing on N64

I still play this game to this day. This did everything that Mario Kart 64 did, but it did it better. It was just as much fun as Mario Kart 64 in multi player, but its single player mode blew Mario kart 64 out of the water. Mario Kart 64 may get all the love, but for me this is the best kart racer on the system.

WWF No Mercy for Nintendo 64

Have you ever played a wrestling game before? Well, I am a huge wrestling fan, and this to me is still the best wrestling game ever made. The amount of hours I spent playing this back in college in multi player is crazy. We would spend hours playing 4 player ladder matches. I consider this one of the best multi player games on the system. Not to mention, kicking the crap out of your dorm roommate ( hypothetically, of course. ) just left you felt feeling good at the end of a long day of tests.

Mortal Kombat 4 on N64

I will admit that father time has not been particularly kind to the graphics of this game, but back when it was first released my friends and I were amazed by this game. It was just so much fun to play. I think this is easily the best fighter game on the console, and it has some of the most over the top fatalities in the series.

Mickey’s Speedway USA

This is another great kart racer that I would go as far to say is better than Mario Kart 64 (not that I dislike Mario Kart 64) this was made by the good people at RARE ( a game designing Company ) at a time when pardon my language when RARE had there s**t together, and just made hit after hit. This game is a very good racer with a ton of replay value.

The World Is Not Enough N64

Many people praise Goldeneye on the Nintendo 64, and with good reason that it was simply amazing. However I will admit that I had just as much fun playing its sequel. This game was not made by RARE, but I loved every moment of it. I feel that this is one of those games that people are way to harsh on.

One of the first / best FPS games ever!

@ S.Graveson, Thanks for leaving a comment! It's nice to see I am not the only one who thinks Perfect Dark wasn't that amazing. Not sure why some of my friends always praised it so much. Never played Blast Corps though.
