Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Tips And Strategies

Updated on July 14, 2011

Need for speed hot pursuit has been a long time coming,as a need for speed fan i and many others have been let down over the last couple of years with the quality of need for speed games, but when word of this release came out i have to admit i was excited.A lot of the tips i provide are simple yet effective tips designed to get you through the game with the minimum of fuss, and to be honest if you are a seasoned Need for speed fan then you will probably know most of these tricks anyway,The game is simple chase or be chased, cop or racer the choice is up to you, each have their advantages and disadvantages but both are great fun to play and will be enjoyed by everyone that picks up this game. You might need to practice what i tell you as on the game there is an autolog that records all your racing data and lets your friends know what times you posted giving you lots of potential to beat your mates then brag about it.Let the racing commence.

Tip Number 1:Sideswipe (Police)

In order for you to make a successful bust as a police officer you have to force the racer or racers off the road, this is done in a couple of ways but the best way to do this is to do a real police manoeuvre which is in effect a sideswipe, firstly you need to get level with your potential bust and then just as he starts to pull ahead fling your car violently into the side of him, usually if you time it right you can force the car clean off the road,or at the very least damage him so he only needs to take one more hit.The bigger the car you possess while doing this the better it works.

Tip Number 2:Nitrous For Busts (Police)

Nitrous isn't just to be used to gain a speed boost to help catch your prey you know,it can also help damage your criminals car to the point where he is caught. If the above tactic doesn't work or doesn't do enough damage to stop the racer then simply save up at least a third of your nitrous and position yourself behind the racers car (Look out for dropped road spikes from criminals car),then when the road ahead looks straight and clear hit the nitrous and use all of it which will send you thrusting forward with great momentum into the racers car and this does triple the damage that just bumping him normally would do,So Save some nitrous and do some cop busting damage.

Tip Number 3:Plan Roadblocks (Police)

When using roadblocks don't just push the button to activate them without due care and attention, firstly take a glance at the map,you are going to need to make sure there are no shortcuts for the racer to take so they can avoid the roadblock. If i have more than one roadblock available to me then i do two quite close together, if one is avoided the second one wont be,check your map when the target reaches the roadblock if you are far behind use your nitrous to catch up as he will have to slow to get through it safely.Best of luck.

Tip Number 4:EMP (Police)

You have to use this correctly,it is an electrical magnetic pulse that will damage the car in front or if it is already damaged render it unusable and therefore you can bust it.Always check your map looking for shortcuts and or corners as using the emp on or before any of these gives your target the chance to get out of the line of sight.Always use thm on a straight piece of road and make sure you are fairly close and preferably off to one side to avoid spike strips.

Tip Number 5:Helicopters And Roadblocks Combined (Police)

Using helicopters is effective as they can quickly get ahead of the racer and drop spike strips, but there is two things you need to do first, make sure that there are no tunnels or shortcuts up ahead for the racer to avoid the helicopter and secondly you should always use this in conjunction with a roadblock,Use the roadblock first then immediately use the Helicopter as the racer will be working so hard to avoid the roadblock that he may not see the spike-strip,this is a tactic which worked incredibly well for me.

Tip Number 1:Shortcuts (Racers)

Try the shortcuts in free play before using them as they are not all shortcuts, some actually take a longer more scenic route which is not what you want if you are trying to win a race or evade the police, remember to take the shortcut at the last minute to evade cops and then just before you are about to get back on the road use a blast of nitrous to give you that extra boost ahead of the cops.

Tip 2:Turbo (Racers)

Turbo can be a brilliant tool if used in the right manner, firstly only ever use this on a straight bit of road as it can give you more speed than nitrous if used right, don't use it when near top speed as this will just waste what is a limited tool,i would use it at around 100mph as for most of the top cars it will boost you too nearly 200mph quite easily, also worth using when you have the cops right behind you perhaps just after you have evaded a roadblock.

Tip 3:Spike Strips (Racers)

Obviously I'm sure you know full well how to use spike strips but for those that may not have the faintest idea then its this simple, when a police car is behind you make sure they are close enough so they cannot evade anything and then release a spike strip which should temporarily render the vehicle unable to drive for a few seconds which should be enough time for you to make a quick getaway.

Tip Number 4:In The Dark (Racers)

For one of the best ways of losing police especially if playing online against friends, you need to play at night and take a shortcut, when driving off road at considerable speed make sure it is a shortcut you have done a few times and know well, when you are sure the police are following then turn the headlights off, although making it difficult to see where your going it can confuse the police as not only can they see your rear lights but when you are kicking up loads of dirt it makes it very hard for them to follow you especially when you make last minute turns.
