Fun and Easy Point and Click Horror
The ease of this game was actually cool because it was so long that it still took a long time to beat. It is 7 Discs and with the cut scenes Phantasmagoria takes a while to complete. The game was released in 1995 on PC and in 1997 the Sega Saturn churned it out. Use a mouse on PC and the Saturn used a controller. Scene From Phantasmagoria
This game is downright scary all the way around. The music is spooky especially the devil worshipping chants. The blood, gore and evil creatures are frightening enough but the demon in the Chapel literally gave me goose bumps the first time I discovered it. The ghosts, demons, flickering lights and moving objects are freaky enough but it happens during gameplay instead of just occurring in cut scene clips.
Note: A sequel was released in 1996 and it was entitled "Phantasmagoria: Puzzle of Flesh". It was just as gruesome as the first if not more so. If you have ever played Phantasmagoria please share your thoughts on the game in the comments section at the bottom of this article.

Controversy Surrounding The Game
A demon possesses the lead character's husband and then the man sexually assaults his wife which caused some stores in America to ban it from their shelves. Aside from that horrid scene the game has many demonic parts including witchcraft, black magic and demonic forces.
The other controversy is because with the actors being real life looking instead of cartoon animations the killing and violence seem to be so real.

Phantasmagoria (Game Clip)
To be honest, I adore this game and to me it is the best horror video game ever. The music and sound effects are scary and the 3D graphics along with real actors shown in full motion video are outstanding even after more than 15 years of its release. But I like it because the plot, gameplay and evil characters. I do wish the game had more weapons to gather and use but other than that it ranks an A+ in my opinion. I have beaten this game four times and I whooped the sequel twice.
With all due respect to games such as the Resident Evil franchise and the Silent Hill series Phantasmagoria is a legendary horror video game, one for the ages. I am not really a big fan of point and click games but this one earns a 9.5 out of 10 and I would recommend it to any fans of horror style video games.
