There are a few different ways to play pictionary. I'll walk you through the main ones. For all versions, the pictures must never include any letters of the alphabet or meaningful symbols (for example, $ or ? or the McDonalds arches)
Option One - number of players: 3+
One person draws on a big piece of paper, and the rest of the group tries to guess what is being drawn. The person who guesses it gets to go next.
Option Two - number of players: 4+ (an even number is best)
Players are divided into teams of two. In each round, there is one "guesser" and one "drawer" for each team. The drawers will all draw the same thing for their teammate to guess. The first team to have their guesser say the right answer wins the round. The roles are swapped every round, so the two team mates swap roles each round.
Option Three - number of players: 4
This option is just like Option 2, except it is the board game version, complete with fancy pictionary suggestion cards, a timer and a race around a board game. In my opinion this is the most fun way to play, and I recommend it to anybody playing for the first time so they know what the actual game is like.
