Quality Made Poker Chips - Your Guide to Custom Poker Chips Sets and Monogrammed Poker Chips

Updated on July 6, 2009

Poker Chip Sets Undiscovered

Avid poker players are highly sensitive to the weight, feel and design of poker chips. Customized and monogrammed poker chips are not just for casinos, but for the casual and serious poker player, too. We will explore in this article the different kinds of custom and monogrammed poker chips to choose from.

The very first consideration when planning your custom poker chip set is where and how you’ll use them. If you and the guys play poker together one night a week, you can opt for a cheaper set made of metal and plastic. If you want to step up your image, you will want to purchase a quality ceramic chip. When a casino owner wants the top of the line in casino chips, he orders chips made of clay.

Are Monogrammed Poker Chips for you?

You not only have a variety of custom poker chip materials. You also have an endless choice of designs to choose from. Many poker lovers personalize their chips with images of their family, their pets, popular actors, political figures, athletes and poker stars. There is no limit to what you can put on your poker chips.

Custom poker chips along with the monogrammed variety are available in Internet stores. Epokerdeals, Buypokerchips and the Chiplab are just three of the many places to purchase chips. They offer several pre-made templates as well as help in designing your own unique poker chips.

You may consider providing monogrammed poker chips for any tournament or cash games you’re involved in. There are many charities that sponsor poker tournaments. Customized chips can give the event an image of sophistication and credibility. Chips can be given as a parting gift to each player as a souvenir and a reminder of the company that sponsored such an enjoyable evening. So customized poker chips can serve as a marketing product.

Poker Chip Quality Tests

You will find several levels of quality and prices when doing research. For the weekly game with the fellas, you can opt for the basic plastic and metal chips for only a few bucks. If you play in cash games, you’ll need ceramic chips. These cost more than plastic, of course, about 75 cents more per chip. Casino owners buy clay chips because they are top of the line. There are many poker players who have a collection of poker chips that they’ve walked away with from every casino or poker event in which they’ve participated.

There are now chips available in a combination of clay and other materials that make them more durable without taking away from their beauty. Paulson or BlueChip can provide you with the more expensive poker chips.

It’s important to check the quality of your custom chips. Check them to see how they hold up under wetness because chips often get wet from drinks being spilled or wet hands. Also make sure the edges are smooth rather than rough or jagged.

The final test--rub the chips against each other. Do they leave scratch marks?

Whether you plan to hold a charity poker event or just want to wow the guys at the next poker night, you can have custom or monogrammed poker chips that leave a great impression. You will be considered a very serious player who is imaginative and creative.

I just learned to play Texas Hold'em. So bought some plastic poker chips. They work just fine. But then, I'm not a purist
