Red Dead Redemption 2 - Poisonous Trail Treasure Map
The Poisonous Trail Treasure Map is the only map in Red Dead Redemption 2 will give you four gold bars, which can be sold for $500 each at the Fence. The only requirement for getting this treasure is to find the treasure maps. This hunt will take you across the map to hard to reach places, so be ready to do some riding, running, jumping, climbing, and searching.
Finding The First Poisonous Trail Treasure Map
The first map is hidden in a cabin in back towards the area where the game started. It is in Ambarino, at a cabin by Carin Lake. As you get close, if you haven't found the stranger in that area, you will hear him calling for help. You can talk to him if you want to help him find his friend, but you can skip this and go right for the treasure map.
Go inside the cabin. The treasure is in a lock box under the bed.
Finding The Second Poisonous Trail Treasure Map
The first part of the treasure map shows a rock with what appears to be a face protruding from a hill. It shows an arrow leading to the back of the hill. The second part of the map shows a cluster of trees in different stages of growth/decay.
The Face Rock can be found in Lemoyne, near Scarlett. It is to the west of the Eris Field and north of Matlock Pond.
If you are looking directly at the face of the rock, then it is hard to make out the face. However, if you are looking at it from the side it looks like a face.
When looking towards the face of the hill, walk to the right hand side, you will pass between the hill and a tree and head down the hill towards what looks like a tree that has fallen over. The treasure map is inside the part of the tree that is still in the ground. You you get close it should give you a prompt to search.
Finding The Third Poisonous Trail Treasure Map
The second treasure map shows what looks like a snake with a pile of rocks stack up in the center of where its head appears to be wrapping around.
This can be found in New Hanover, east of Van Horns Trading Post. To pinpoint this on the map you can go almost directly south from the R in New Hanover, crossing three roads. The third road dips up and back down, this location is below that dip.
The best way to find this treasure is to first find the tower in the general area described above. It is a three story wooden tower. Carefully climb to the top.
Once you are at the top, look around until you see the obvious snake like ground formation leading to the circular rock formation, which looks like an eye. Make your way back down the tower and to this rock formation.
The third and final Poisonous Trail Treasure Map will be in the pupil of the eye. When you approach you will get an indication to search.
Finding The Poisonous Trail Treasure
The final treasure map shows a waterfall with an arrow pointing right into the mouth of the waterfall. This is one of the more basic maps, and makes it easy to find the starting location if you know where the waterfall is at.
You will find this waterfall in Elysian Pool, which is directly north of the area between the E and the R in New Hanover.
Finding the waterfall is the easy part. Now you will have to walk into it, which leads into a cave. Once inside the cave you will have to follow a series of tunnels to find the treasure. This is not difficult if you know where to go, but the wrong move will get you killed.
Before you start walking, take out your lantern, it will give you some light. Climb over the first ledge and follow the cavern until you start to see a crevasse on your right. Follow the crevasse until it ends, then enter the crevasse and start following it back the way you came.
After following the crevasse a short time, you will see a tunnel to your left. You will need to duck to walk through this tunnel.
Stay to the right until you find what looks like a makeshift camp for one. You can loot this camp if you want. Then stay to the right as you walk out of the camp.
You will come to another split in the tunnel, either left or right will lead to the same place. Keep going until you reach a ledge.
Go to the right slowly until you see two tunnels. You want to run and jump to the lower tunnel. You may get hurt slightly when you do this, so make sure your health is not too low.
Slide down the rock path away from the direction you came. You will land into shallow water. To the left will be a rock ledge. Climb onto the ledge and search in the pile of rocks. This is where you will find the final treasure.
To get back out, go back the way you came. Climb up to the right hand side of the slide. As you approach the top there will be a ledge on the right. Climb this, which will lead to another ledge. Climb that and follow until you are going back the way you originally came.
