RISE OF THE RAKGHOULS - THE LORE BEHIND THE GAME

(Note: This written history of the Rakghouls taken from the Star Wars Universe may be different from that of the SWTOR game)

4000 years before even Anakin became the Sith Lord Darth Vader, there was a cunning and crafty Sith Lord who ruled in the Dark Side of the Universe. This Sith Lord, known as Karness Muur, was a very powerful Sith who ventured into creating dark scientific experiments to cheat death and gain more power.

Sith Lord Karness Muur, like many other dark Lords in the history, wanted to cheat death and prolong his reign. In order to do that, he strived to create an army that will become the most wicked and powerful in his side of the Galaxy. He ventured into a myriad of Dark Scientific experiments until one day he became successful in creating on of the most dreaded things in the Galaxy, even for a Sith: The Muur Talisman.

-------------------------------------------------

The Muur Talisman was a result of long years of research to create the most devastating weapon that the Galaxy will ever see. When placed near the presence of a sentient being, the Muur Talisman has the capability to transform that being into a hideous, mutant-type beast called a Rakghoul. Rakghouls are huge and scary beings that can crush the bodies of people using just their bare hands. Furthermore, Rakghouls can only be controlled with the use of the Muur Talisman, making the Sith Lord Karness Muur one of the most powerful and feared Dark Lords in the history of the Sith Empire.

Although the Muur Talisman was a very powerful item on its own, Sith Lord Karness Muur soon discovered that there was one flaw in the talisman that made it impossible for him to conquer the Galaxy. The Muur Talisman, although it can transform any living being that goes nearby into a mindless, mutant beast, cannot affect those who wield the powers of the Force. Some alien beings are also immune to the power of the Talisman, making it useless for domination unless Karness Muur finds a way to reverse the situation.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In order to fix the weakness of his Talisman, Karness Muur created a new way to spread the dreaded Rakghoul plague by extracting the essence of power from the Talisman. After digging deep into another scientific research, Sith Lord Karness Muur was able to create a new form of a virus that spreads the plague of the Rakghoul through scratch and bite. Once an infected being is able to wound another through scratch or bite, the Rakghoul plague will quickly infect the wounded body, thereby transforming the affected person into a Rakghoul even if he is a Force-sensitive being.

Sith Lord Karness Muur attracted fear and jealousy because of his new found power. Because of this, other Sith Lords whom he overtook conspired to kill him and grab his powerful Talisman. By joining forces and resources together, Karness Muur's rivals were able to destroy him. He was defeated and killed in a terrible battle and his Talisman was lost in the outer rim of the planet Taris.

After Lord Karness was defeated, his Talisman soon landed into the outer rims of planet Taris. In time, the Rakghoul plague spread like wild fire in the Undercities of the planet and it transformed a lot of people into fierce and ruthless Rakghoul mutants. With no one to control them, the Rakghouls destroyed and plagued the planet. They moved from on place to another and infected those whom they meet, making the Rakghoul Plague a point of concert for the whole Republic...

      Hi john,

thanks for the nice comment! that bold font was just my style, i think it looks good if i do it that way (at least for me =)

feel free to come back once in a while, I am planning on releasing more companions guides in the near future. SWTOR is really a nice game, with a great story line to add. If you are a Star Wars fan and you want to know the history of the Planets and warring Races, playing SWTOR is a must =)

Nicely written Hub, but I think the intro was a bit fanatical to some extent, what with the block capitals and bold text. I'm surprised SW:TOR has actually released new content, being out for around a month already. I can understand it being an update and all, but I think they need to give players more time to settle in. Otherwise, the more they have without being at endgame, the more they'll want. Happens in every game, including life.

I'll check out your other Hubs, just for curiosity. But I'm still on the fence about whether I should follow your Hubs ^^
