Rogue Basic Set-Up

Rogue PvP hasn't changed very much, but on the other hand it's still a big enough change to go over some of the basic's so here I have all 3 Rogue talent build's. All Rogue Specializations are viable now, Assassination and Combat being favored over most. Right now Paralytic Poison is, "Okay", but rather a throw under the bus at the moment, Leeching Poison is, "Decent", yet people make it work, play around a bit more and find what you need, but if your looking for a get it done quick deal, this is the spot!

This guide is Subject to change in the future!

Assassination Talents

  • Shadow Focus - No Cost when you use Stealthed abilities.
  • Combat Readiness - 10% Less Damage stack's 5 times.
  • Shadowstep - Jump to your target, Useful for Blink's, Disengages.
  • Dirty Tricks - Gouge and Blind cost no Energy, Poisons and Bleed's no longer break them.

Assassination Reforge: Hit/Expertise (without breaking the cap) and Crit to Mastery, Try to get as much Mastery as possible as it makes your poisons hit harder.

Assassination Glyphs:

  • Major - Glyph of Vendetta - Minor - Glyph of Detection
  • Major - Glyph of Garrote - Minor - Glyph of Decoy
  • Major - Glyph of Gouge - Minor - Glyph of Poisons

Rogue Play-Style

The Basic Rogue play-style hasn't changed much, but rather it's more challenging and cool down dependent, if your Cloak of Shadow's isn't up for a duel, or arena, you would be in trouble, unless you take Prep. in the future I predict this will surpass any talent in the category, but as with Rogue, in any spec we sustain high damage output and tons of CC, with having said that let's start with the basic rotation.

  • Open with Garrote or Cheap Shot, Cheap Shot for Melee, Garrote for Casters.
  • Collect 5 Combo Point's and go into a 5 Points Kidney, at that point pop any needed cool down's, but your goal is to make them pop them without poping your cd's, for instance, if you pop Vendetta, and your trinket, a Mage may simply Iceblock it, then your out of luck!
  • If you are slowed, highly DoT'd, or Rooted, use your Cloak of Shadow's or Glyph'd Sprint.
  • Vanish when your enemy becomes Immune or you simply need health.
  • If you talented into Elusiveness then keep your Feint up at all times.
  • Use Gouge as another interrupt after you've Kicked your target.
  • Try to keep Recoupe up, Recoupe is lacking a lot of health regen, but it's better than nothing.
  • If you Vanish, try to reopen with a Cheap Shot or Garrote.
  • Shadowstep as need, for example, Shadowstep only when a Mage Blink's, a Hunter Disengages, a Warrior Heroic Leap's, a Warlock Teleport's, a Death Knight is Chain's of Ice kiting, a Druid Charges away, a Shaman Thunderstorm's, after a Priest Fear, Macro a Focus Kick/Shadowstep.
  • Blind to reset the fight if needed.
  • Do not trinket Charges, Intimidating Shout, or a Freeze, Only Stuns, Deep Freeze, and Other various stun's that gives your enemy a short amount of time to burst.
  • Shadowmeld (If Night Elf) to gain another Cheap Shot, or Garrote.
  • Disarm on Enemy Cool down's, Disarm when they are gone if it's up to minimize damage.
  • Try to maintain, Slice and Dice, Recoupe, and Feint at all times.
  • Poison's should be, Deadly and Crip, or Wound and Crip, Use Mind Numbing if needed.
