Runescape accounts - can Buying and Selling GP work?

Updated on February 27, 2013
Buying and Selling Runescape Accounts
Buying and Selling Runescape Accounts

Jagex's Rules

According to jagex's game guide on their official website "Each account should only be used by ONE person. Account sharing is NOT allowed. You may not sell, transfer or lend your account to anyone else, or permit anyone else to use your account, and you may not accept an account that anybody else offers you.". This would lead a normal person to think that buying/selling runescape accounts is against jagex rules.

The net effect of Jagex's evil
The net effect of Jagex's evil

Why not!?!?!?!?

Right bellow on the game guide where jagex made that statement about banning account trading they tried to give excuses for why they don't allow it.

  • Most traded accounts are stolen, so by buying a stolen account you help them do a crime :S
  • Then they said some typical jagex bulloni about why you shouldn't trust other runescape players

Jagex then goes to end of on a happy note by letting you know you also cant swap or share accounts with your friends family and loved ones.

A little bita history

Did you know that 100% percent of people believe all stats they are told, that's right so unless you want to look like a loner you better believe all of the bellow.

  • March 29, 2004 Jagex released runescape
  • 10 December 2007 Runescape introduced the trade limit to damage the already severely weakened runescape economy after they had recently taken away the wild
  • January 2008 Runescape became the 5th most search term on yahoo, mostly because of people who pay to play the game
  • June 2009 Runescape estimated net worth: $200 million

Ebay - Buying and selling runescape accounts since 2005?
Ebay - Buying and selling runescape accounts since 2005?

Ebay - What happened man?

Before jagex began extermenating the people who traded runescape accounts ebay was a utopia of runescape account trading. There was ample scelection of runescape gold and accounts for sale for the leagons of people who did not have the time or patience levels to earn them. It was a fair deal offcourse, the dealers were trying to sell a product they could produce efficiently (gp and accounts) and the buyers were paying exactly how much they think the product was worth. That's how capitalism works, that's how America, heck the how the free world was founded and sustains it's self.

So what now?

Person A: OK, so jag-ex and eBay are conformists and evil corporations, whats that mean to me? I still want to buy a runescape account...

Person B: Brilliantly put person A, here's the thing, it might not be possible to but accounts but you can still raise your account using all the free training guides out there!

Person A: ....

Person B: OK fine, here's the deal some trusted websites still buy and sell runescape accounts, they have done well to either be under jagex radar or to follow their guidelines and not really sell the accounts but sell intensive guides which just happen to include a high level runescape account with them.

Person A: i dunnu.. think you will probably need some type of a disclaimer for this.

Person B: Well buying and selling runescape accounts is very legal, at best it breaks jagex rules but i guess your lawyer senses are worth listening to.

DISCLIAMER

This article has a satirical undertone, not all of it is intent to be literal. Jagex LSD *LTD has banned the selling of runescape accounts under their servers because technically no player owns their accounts. Never the less buying and selling runescape accounts can get you in as much trouble as setting up an unlicensed lemonade stall in your front yard.
