Runescape Fletching Guide 1 - 99

Updated on July 19, 2012

In this guide I will give you a step by step walk through on how to achieve level 99 fletching in Runescape. Please note that prices of items change on a daily basis and this skill is exclusive to members who have a paid monthly subscription to the game. That aside let's begin and get you on your way to that cape!

I will not include prices as they change on a daily basis, you can do the maths yourself by looking at the grand exchange price either in game or on the Runescape website, search for the item in the search bar and look at the information for the item, as shown in the pictures below. Times the number of logs it takes for each section by the price for that day and then you will have an upto date and accurate price!

Levels - 1-20 Arrow Shafts

For these early levels it is really cheap and non time consuming. I recommend that you make arrow shafts from normal logs. You can either cut your own normal logs or you can buy them from the grand exchange. To make arrow shafts you need a knife in your inventory to Fletch the logs.

It will take approximately 904 normal logs to make the required amount of arrow shafts to get your flethching level to 20. This will make approximately 13,560 arrow shafts in total. If you are concentrating on levelling up fast you can achieve level 20 in around 30 minutes.

Levels - 20-25 Oak Short Bow (u)

These next five levels don't take up a lot of time so you will be able to get to this point in no time at all. I recommend that you use oak logs and fletch them into Oak short bows (u) (unstrung). The best place to cut oak logs are outside of the main bank at Varrock, there are three trees in total and you have a bank near by to deposit the logs. To make the bows you need a knife in your inventory to fletch the logs.

It will take approximately 475 oak logs to reach level 25 fletching. This will make 475 Oak short bows (u) in total. This will take approximately 15 minutes to increase your skill level from 20-25 using this method.

Levels - 25-35 Oak Long Bow (u)

These next ten levels again are very fast as they are low levels. I recommend that you make Oak long bows (u) at this stage to maximise you exp per minute and cost. As mentioned above you can cut your own oak logs near the main Varrock bank or purchase them from the grand exchange. To make the bows you need a knife in your inventory.

It will take approximately 583 oak long bows (u) to reach level 35. This will make 583 Oak long bows (u) in total. This will take approximately 19 minutes to increase your skill level from 25-35 using this method.

Levels - 35-40 Willow Short Bow (u)

These next five levels are the beginning of the long hard grind to get to level 99. I recommend that you make Willow short bows (u) at this stage to maximise your exp per minute and cost. You can cut Willow logs in Draynor village right next to the bank, which is convenient to deposit your inventory once it becomes full without having to travel far. Or you can purchase the logs from the grand exchange instead. To make the bows you need a knife in your inventory to fletch the logs.

It will take approximately 1,119 Willow short bows (u) to reach level 40. This will make 1,119 Willow short bows (u) in total. This will take approximately 37 minutes to increase your skills level from 35-40 using this method.

Levels - 40 - 65 Willow Long Bow (u)

This is the time when it starts to become very time consuming as you reach the higher levels. I recommend that you make Willow long bows (u) at this stage to maximise your exp per minute and cost. You can cut Willow logs from the same place as mentioned above, or purchase them from the grand exchange instead. To make the bows you need a knife in your inventory to fletch the logs.

It will take approximately 5,415 Willow long bows (u) to reach level 65. This will make 5,415 Willow long bows (u) in total. This will take approximately 2 hours and 55 minutes to increase your skill level from 40-65 using this method.

Levels - 65-70 Maple Long Bow (u)

Again as mentioned earlier these stages are very time consuming and take up a large amount of time. I recommend that you make Maple long bows (u) at this stage to maximise your exp per minute and cost. You can cut Maple logs at the back of the bank at Seer's village, a great point to drop off your full inventory each time it fills up, or you can purchase them from the grand exchange instead. To make the bows you need a knife in your inventory to fletch the logs.

It will take approximately 4,144 Maple long bows (u) to reach level 70. This will make 4,144 Maple long bows (u) in total. This will take approximately 2 hours and 17 minutes to increase your skill level from 65-70 using this method.

Levels - 70-99 Yew Long Bow

This is the final stage to reach your main goal of level 99 fletching! as I'm sure you have guessed this is the most time consuming of all. VERY time consuming. I recommend that you make Yew long bows at this stage to maximise your exp per minute and cost. You can cut Yew logs next to the grand exchange, or you can purchase the logs from the grand exchange. I also recommend that you make full bows at this stage by adding bowstring to an (u) bow. You will need 14 (u) Yew long bows and 14 bowstring in your inventory to make a full bow.

It will take approximately 86,896 Yew long bows (u) AND 86,896 bow string to reach level 99. This will make 86,896 Yew long bows in total. This will take approximately 80 hours and 19 minutes to increase your skill level from 70-99 using this method.
