Speculation: Dead Rising 2 Off The Record

"Take a seat, Chuck. Frank West is back in the game!"

Gamers everywhere have been asking questions about certain facts that were present in Dead Rising 2, which need to be discussed for this spin-off. All that is written in this article are just speculation and not actual facts hence the title. The goal of this article is to give a new perspective on the details.

Chuck Greene-to-Frank West. After the Willamette Outbreak, Frank was offered a talk show deal and a book deal, which he had both squandered. He finds himself in Fortune City for he needs the money, so he appears on a different section of "Terror Is Reality", where he wrestles zombies for cash. After the match, he witnesses TK being bought off by an unseen figure. This is the backstory for the game as Capcom Vancouver has released so far.

The difference between Chuck and Frank should be obvious if you played the first two games. The Picture System returns as Frank's camera lens is polished after sitting on the dusty shelf for so long. There has been no word about Combo Weapons, but I assume they are out of this game for that was Chuck's thing and not Frank's.

The Case Files. They could do this anyway they want from replacing Chuck with Frank, both stories coincide with each other but you're just playing Frank's story, etc. My idea is Chuck does die in the outbreak and Rebecca finds Frank to uncover the truth.

What about Katey? This was a nice addition to the game for it added another challenging element, but it gave the feeling of saving the life of someone you care about. How will this translate for Frank West, however? There are a few ways this can be done.
- Chuck Dies. Chuck Greene dies in the outbreak and Katey is rescued by Frank.
- Different Girl. Frank's niece gets bitten in the outbreak and needs Zombrex.
- Helpless Family. A little girl is bitten and her mother needs Frank to save her.
- Ignore it. The entire "Saving the Little Girl" aspect is removed from the game.

Survivors and Psychopaths. Now, I'm pretty sure that these two types will not be changed because there is really no need to change them. This doesn't mean that they won't be changed, it is just I don't see the need.

My Hopes. Since Combo Weapons accounted for some of the best damaging weapons in the game. I really hope that the Small Chainsaw makes a return for it would have been hard to take down psychopaths without it. I also want to have more than one psychopath weapon in your inventory(i.e. 2 Six-Shooters).

Well, that's it for my speculation on the game. If you have any questions about this article, please feel free to leave a comment and I will get back to you as quick as I can.
