Star Wars Battlefront 3 release date, coming soon!

Star Wars Battlefront 3, 2015?

That's right, 2015 is the general consensus around the web for the rough Star Wars Battlefront 3 release date.

Apparently the chief financial officer of EA said something about the game being released around the same time as the new installment of movies, which also are apparently set for summer of 2015. So it's finally time to lay all the rumors to rest once and for all because not only do we have a good potential release date, we have a real official teaser trailer for the actual game (see below).

Honestly, 2015 isn't that far out there, but what about 2014?

It may sound like a long time to wait, but there are three things to really think about when considering the Star Wars Battlefront 3 release date.

Can't wait to see this right here with PS4/Xbox One graphics

First off, if all they had was a teaser trailer by the time E3 rolled around, then they're probably not very far along in production at all. At best it's likely that they just started on the game this year. All the teaser stood for was to basically say "hey, we're actually going to make it this time, and it's coming soon enough."

Second off, they may or may not want to release it alongside the first major installment of Disney based films in the Star Wars series. If this is the case, then summer of 2015 doesn't sound all that far fetched at all. If they decide against this then we may see a holiday season release date instead. It's up in the air whether or not they'll stick true to the summer 2015 release date of the games, just so it can support the films; we'll have to wait and see for that one.

Finally, most AAA games aim for holiday season release dates so the games can be bought as gifts for the holidays. So if they decide that mixing the release date with that of the films isn't a good idea, then a 2014 holiday season doesn't sound all the far fetched, and neither does holiday season of 2015. Honestly it all depends on when they actually started development, which no one is really sure of right now.

So where does that leave us?

While summer of 2015 is the current buzz release date out there on the web, it's not confirmed, and is subject to change. The main reason this is such a hot date for the game is because people so fervently believe that the game will be released alongside the films, which may or may not be true.

While it may be a good strategy to do so, would it really fare better than a standard holiday season release date? Honestly, it wouldn't be surprising if they waited until the holiday season of 2015.

Another bit of food for thought to think about: if they showed a teaser trailer this E3, maybe next E3 they'll have an official trailer and a release date for the holiday season of 2014. It's wishful thinking, but knowing how gaming industries work, it's really difficult to know what they're really planning.

Since we don't know what they're truly planning we'll just have to move forward based on what they hinted at: a 2015 summer release date. Just don't forget, their board of directors and what not are humans just like us, and they have meetings on a regular basis to discuss issues just like the ones we're discussing right now, so don't be surprised if that time frame changes from now and then.
