Tap Titans for Android and IOS

This must be the feeling a Grammy-winning artist feels when they're faced with an opportunity to release a greatest hits album after a few successful years on top of the world. After writing over 100 tips and tricks guides for games on IOS and Android, I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge, revisit, and put my stamp on my favorite game of the past year.

Without a doubt, the absolute height of gaming as far as I'm concerned has been the eclectic hit, Tap Titans. Taking the mundane tapping and clicking game that is usually applied to cookies and/or animals, Tap Titans introduces a true RPG setting full of heroes to be upgraded, special powers to be unlocked, and dozens of hours of gameplay. And unless you hacked the game or did something else that would be considered cheating, there was always more to do and see in the game.

So let's celebrate my favorite game in the only way I know how... a tips and tricks guide.

Core Gameplay

For a game to be this memorable, then it must have absolutely stellar core gameplay, and a twist or two. Here's what Tap Titans brings to the table:

  1. A whole lot of tapping so you can defeat monsters
  2. Investing coins into increasing the strength of your taps and new abilities
  3. Spending coins on new heroes that deal passive damage and generate coins when you're away from the game
  4. Upgrading heroes so you can collect more coins, and also unlock special abilities like an increased chance of facing treasure chests or increased critical damage chance

That's pretty complex for a game that was discarded as a simple tapping game, don't you think?

Tap Titans Tips and Strategy

Tap Titans Beginner Tips and Tricks

Before we get to the main dish of artifacts, relics and prestige it's important that we review tips that everyone can benefit from while starting a new journey.

  • Jewels are useful for a lot of things, but I prefer cash. Christmas is a wonderful time of year full of plenty of presents that are a joy to receive. But when it comes down to it, nothing beats cash. That's how I feel every time I have 100 jewels burning a hole in my pocket. While there are other uses that will bring me joy, nothing beats a well-timed storm of gold coins raining from the skies.
  • Always look to the next hero companion. It can take a really long time to collect every hero companion in the game, and that's important to remember because they become progressively stronger in a big way. After you've put in 4-5 hours, you start seeing that each next hero is exponentially stronger so you shouldn't put all your coins in weaker heroes that are just asking to be eclipsed.
  • Tap damage will open the way. Perhaps I should have written this point before mentioning companions because early on, tap damage is king and queen. There is no getting around the need to tap a whole lot, even in the later stages of the game, so you'll need to keep this upgraded.

Tap Titans Prestige and Relics

Now on to the fun part, let's talk about prestige, relics and artifacts and how you can have the most success each time you play.

  • Stage 100 or more. So, in order to unlock prestige, you need to have reached at least level 600 for your tap damage upgrade. That's great and all, but when should you hit the prestige button and restart your adventure? Wait until you've been stage 100 for your first prestige, because you'll collect the stage 100 achievement with accompanying jewels that you can use the next you play to Make it Rain.
  • You've hit the wall. What's more likely to happen is that no matter how much you put into upgrades, you finally hit the wall when monsters take a lot of time and effort to defeat. Once this happens, the game slows down and it becomes a lot less fun. It might be time to hit the prestige button when this happens.
  • Don't prestige when you had an unconscious hero. One of the determining factors for how many relics you receive for your prestige is that you have every hero standing and fighting. When one or more of your heroes has been defeated by a boss, you miss out on a huge relic bonus. So wait until your team is in prime condition before you move on.
  • Hero levels and stages beaten matter too. The other two factors that determine how many relics you get are how much you've upgraded your hero levels, and how many stages you've beaten. Based on the rules above, I wouldn't go out of my way to beat an extra stage or two unless you're on the cusp of the next 0 (i.e. stage 110, 120, 130...). You're better off investing in the cheapest upgrades for your heroes because quantity means more than quality when it comes to getting new relics.

5 stars for Tap Titans Artifacts Relics Prestige Game Tips Strategy

Artifacts Relics and Prestige

Perhaps the biggest reason for Tap Titans success is the wealth of gameplay offered because of the system of relics which can be turned into artifacts. The biggest questions you'll face as you play through a second, third, fourth, and even fifth time is what to do with each new batch of relics after you hit the prestige button. Will you use them to upgrade existing artifacts which is often the cheapest way to significantly improve your character? Or do you save up more relics so that you can add additional artifacts which will bring different bonuses to the table?

Ultimately, if you're like me, you'll play through enough times where you get to pursue both paths, and from my experience, there's not really a wrong answer to this one. Just keep on racking up relics and go with your heart so that you can pass more stages than before.
