The Best Dota 2 Rat Heroes
Best Rat Strats!
We'll begin this list of rat strats with my personal favorite hero in the entire game;
He's had a rough few years with the recent nerfs to ratting in general, and the changes to shape shift but he's still a formidable tower destroyer. There are many different item builds and approaches to playing Lycan but most of them center around getting a fast set of boots of travel and a necro 3. Using your BoTs early on to push a lane and then teleport in to early team fights when lycan easily mows over his opponents. You can easily take a lane of rax within a minute if the other team isn't paying attention and the game is so enjoyable if you spend it mic spamming howls!
This hero..... what to say.... the original rat master of TI3 fame. Very squishy, higher skill cap than Lycan; once you master him though there are more possibilities and his usefulness is usually higher. You can literally teleport anywhere you'd like and play mind games with opponents. Easily a great contender for the best split pushing hero in the game.
Often underappreciated, rarely gets picked; Chen is like the nerd kid that is always left out when picking teams for dodge ball. However, he is the best early game pushing hero in the game and has the most utility out of all of the potential pushing heroes. Once you get your rag-tag group of creeps together you can easily just snowball down T1's and give your team the early advantage. With the recent changes to test of faith you can push one lane with chen and the other with your neutrals; recalling them when needed instead of feeding your opposition. However, personally I feel that Chen is not a top competitor for the best rat hero simply because he falls off so hard late game unless he is allowed to take farm from the cores.
AM is an all around core hero. Farms quicker than Lycan, Hits harder than NP. More mobile than Chen. I can't say enough to describe the hero that is known simply as, "Anti-Fun". The name suits him, he can rat with the best but his fun vs rat ratio is way off. Sure, pick him if you want to hit creeps and win the game.... you just won't enjoy it very much.
