The Very First Space Theme

They would start a trend that has lasted nearly 40 years. In 1978, Lego released the very first space theme series. Simple by today's standards these four sets are perhaps the most desirable of any Lego series. They are also among the rarest. Let's step back in time and see how it all began.

One of Lego's very first space shuttles. This two-seater vehicle was built entirely of general lego bricks, even the cockpit window glass. It's profile is so ridged and blocked by today's sleek designs yet it's fascinating to see the evolution of the Lego Space Shuttle with each subsequent generation.

I have all four of these sets, well played with, but all parts and directions too. I remember getting them as a kid and they were great to play with.
