The Hoodude Voodoo Doll From Monster High

Updated on August 3, 2012

Today we are going to be taking a look at the new Hoodude Voodoo doll from Monster High. This is a new doll to be released and we are going to take a close look at both the Hoodude Voodoo doll and the character himself. We will being you all the latest details about the release date and where you can get hold of this much sought after Monster High Doll.

Monster High has been around now for a few years. It first came to the fore in late 2010 and since then has been massively popular. The company behind the dolls are Mattel and they have taken care to make sure they keep updating the story to keep it fresh. They keep introducing new characters and continue to bring out new dolls and other merchandise. One of the latest characters to be introduced to Monster High is Hoodude Voodoo. So let’s take a closer look at him and also the new doll.

The Hoodude Doll

The New Hoodude Voodoo Doll

So before we mention the doll let’s tell you a little bit about the character we are looking at. Hoodude Voodoo made his first appearance in the show in the episode ‘Hoodoo you like‘. The character was actually created by Frankie Stein as she decided she needed a boyfriend due to the fact that her Teen Scream magazine told her mature girls like to talk about relationships. However, she soon realises that she doesn’t need a boyfriend to fit in. The problem is thought that Hoodude is now alive and when he finds out Frankie doesn’t want him, he is devastated.

The character is a kind of rag doll. He is sown together and has buttons and pins sticking out of him. Fans of the show obviously like this new character as Mattel have decided to bring out a doll version of this. The Hoodude Voodoo doll was previewed at Comic Con in San Diego along with a new Scarah Screams doll. Both these dolls are limited editions and are quite tricky to get hold of. There are a few showing up on eBay at the moment but they are quite pricey. We are hoping that Mattel will put them on general release at some point in the near future. If this does happen we will let you know the release date.

So the doll itself is a little different from the regular Monster High dolls. Due to the fact that Hoodude is a rag doll Mattel have made him to look like this. So in some ways it’s like this doll is a hybrid doll crossed with a plushie. The doll is very well made and sown together very neatly. He has two different colored buttons for eyes, ragged hair and his usual friendly smile. This really is a nicely made doll and one that we expect would be very popular if Mattel did make it widely available. Included with the doll is also a little journal which says on it ‘this is the property of Hoodude Voodoo’.

Scarah Screams

More New Monster High Dolls Coming Soon

Along with Hoodude Voodoo there are other characters that Mattel have been busy working on. The one we must mention is Scarah Screams. She was also shown at Comic Con and she does come in a pack with Hoodude. Scarah actually won a vote a year earlier where fans were given a choice of which character they would like to see turned into a doll. They had a choice between Headless Headmistress Bloodgood and Daughter Of Arachne. Scarah just about edged the vote hence her new doll being made available.

Another popular character that is also being turned into a new doll is Headless Headmistress Bloodgood. Although she missed out on the vote Mattel have decided that they are still going to go ahead and release the doll, we are expecting to see this new doll sometime early 2013. The latest news is that Mattel have also started work on bringing us the Daughter of Arachne doll, so it looks as though fans who originally voted for her should get to see her released after all.

The big new range coming soon is the Ghoul’s Alive range. This features lots of the well known characters such as Frankie and Clawdeen. The great thing about these dolls though is that they take what the character is most well known for and then use it to bring the doll to life. As an example, Clawdeen will howl when you tilt her head back. Frankie has her chest light up as though there is lightning coming out of her and the Spectra doll glows blue. This looks like being a really good range from Mattel.

As you can see Mattel are not resting when it comes to Monster High. They are determined to bring out as many new dolls as they can and keep the story moving forward to keep people interested. The new Hoodude Voodoo doll is a brilliant example of what kind of thing we can expect in the future. Although this doll is only a limited edition we may well see it brought out on general release sometime in the near future. For now though there are plenty of other excellent characters and dolls for you to enjoy.
