The Sims 3 University

It's happening! We know, almost for sure, with a quasi-announcement by EA given in their latest conference, that The Sims 3 University is going to come out some time in 2013. How do we know this if they haven't officially come out with it yet? Well, at the end of a talk they were giving, there was a little play-acting done on the part of two EA representatives, and some less than subtle hints were dropped. Don't worry, that's not the only indication that it is coming out - and yes, it is set to look really, really fun!

The Signs of Things To Come

There are many signs that The Sims 3 University is the next expansion pack in The Sims 3. It's set to be the 9th expansion pack of the very popular game.

The first indication of things to come is a teaser image of a survey. Fans had to fill in surveys of interest before any expansion packs were released. It hints at Sims being able to leave their household to start new families and go off to University. It even hints at child prodigies being able to do so.

Suggested Features

Based purely on the image leaked above, here is what we can surmise will be in the following installation of The Sims 3 University:

  • The ability to fund your Sims education through a combination of grants, scholarships and student-y part-time jobs
  • Older Sims will be able to go back to school to change career paths or to get them started on a career
  • Sims will be able to decorate their dorm rooms
  • Sims that have graduated University will get job offers and have start-up boosts in their chosen careers and job offers (this is definitely a video game, after all ;))
  • Plenty of extracurricular activities. Dating, secret societies, Greek stuff, parties, sports and organizations.
  • Sims can share apartments with active or NPC roommates
  • Improved upon dating system

What Can My Sims Study?

Right now, your Sims will be able to study the following subjects:

  • Art
  • Archaeology
  • Business
  • Culinary Arts
  • Education
  • Law
  • Science
  • Simology

The bolded terms are also new careers in The Sims 3 University.

Is It The Sims 3 University For Sure?

Well, no. It may come by other names. It was spotted in Spain under the name "The Sims 3 Facultad" which is "The Sims 3 Faculty." So maybe there is an emphasis on the professors? Maybe you can be an University professor? That would be sweet.

The Sims 3 University Life is also in the running for the newest expansion pack title.

The Sims 2 University

The Sims 2 University

This expansion pack was insanely fun. It added a new life phase, and was one of my favorite to play. It also involved sending the Sim away to a different town, which could take a toll on an older computer, especially since The Sims 3 has improved in how seamless it is considerably. Take a look at the trailer above and get excited because the Sims 3 University IS COMING!
