The Ultimate Guide to Smurfing in League of Legends

Updated on August 2, 2016

So you decided to re-roll in LoL and make the life of new players miserable. If that is the case, you are at the right place. In this article I will show you the ins and outs of smurfing, because believe it or not, even this satanic act of beating up little children has a science behind it. Ready? Let's go!

1) Define your goal

There is more to smurfing than creating a new account and destroying players under your skill level. There are a wide variety of reasons to why someone decides to re-roll a smurf, the most common of which is to just have fun and escape the try-hard atmosphere of high elo matches. Then there is the option of re-rolling in hope of getting a better ranked placement or as a test to see if you truly belong to the division you are currently in. Also, smurfing is the best way to become an OTP, playing only one champion and mastering your skills with it to perfection. If you want to start smurfing, the first thing you need to do is to clearly define the 'why' so you can move forward to the next step which is...

2) Create/Buy an account

In this step, you have to make a decision. You can go the traditional way by creating a new account and leveling it up through hours and hours of grinding. Well, that is if you want to reach 30. If all you want to do is killing low level people just for fun, then the decision is already made for you: you need to create a brand new account. If your goal is to play ranked as fast as possible, you might consider investing in smurf accounts. These are accounts that have been leveled up already and are waiting for future smurfers like you to get them. They usually have a lot of unspent IP and RP, so you will be able to pick which champions you want to buy and you can even get skins for some of them. While it might seem like a bad idea to pay for something that you can get for free, it is actually worth it, because it will save you dozens of hours, and time is money.

3) Pick a cool name

The most important decision you will make when you start smurfing is picking a cool summoner name ( /s). This is your chance to show the world how creative you are, and in case you want to become a one trick pony, your chance to pick a name that refers to your champion. Instantly tilt your lane opponent by picking Riven with a name "UnforgRiven" and just watch the 5 YES being picked when they decide to surrender at 20 minutes, because they just can't deal with you.

4) Get runes ASAP

If you can't deal with the new players, because you decided to smurf as a Bronze V, it is time to invest in runes. In all seriousness, I think everyone should invest in runes after they get their hands on their main champions. There is no need to unlock every champion. You have your main account for that. What you want to do is be as strong as possible with the champions or champion ( in case of you want to become an OTP) you want to play.

5) Behave

It might be tempting to troll and flame, but remember that most likely the other players are just starting out in LoL. Instead of insulting your allies and disrespecting your enemies, take the role of a teacher. After all, you are the one who knows a lot about the game (supposedly), why not help out others? This way you could make new people believe that the LoL community is nice. They will find out the truth sooner or later, but at least this way you give them some hope.

6) Have fun!

Probably the most important thing is to remember that you are playing a game. Don't take smurfing too seriously. Just sit back, put on some nice music and proceed to wreck faces. Good luck!
