In the top 10 list you will see the best games which have both been released as well as pending their release for 2013. It is difficult to sum up the Top 10 video games released for 2013 as there are so many great games which have been released. To make my list fair I have added a varied amount from different game categories including shooters, action, racers and sport.

I hope this list will help you buy games this year if you are unsure of which is the best as I know that there is no point buying a video game unless if fits the quality's which you are looking for in the game. Also within the list there are a few games which I have not played but I felt it would be more of a realistic list for the 'Top 10 video games for 2013' if I added games which have not yet been released this year. Although I may not have played the pending list of games still awaiting their release I have done my research to give them my fair review. If I feel that after the release of the awaiting video games, that after playing them that they do not fit suitably on my top 10 list then they will be removed as well as replaced.

I have done my fair share of research in order to get the information I needed to choose this list, which is both based on my personal opinion for the top games this year as well as from the success of previous games produced before these sequel titles.

The first two games which I chose for the top 2 in the list I'm sure most gamers will agree on as they are both much anticipated games this year (2013) as well as two of the most well funded games.

This is certainly going to be the No.1 game for 2013 with the rise of fans every year when the latest Call of Duty franchise game is released. Especially since this year (2013), we have the release of the next generation consoles. Personally I am a Call of Duty fan with a lot of anticipation for the latest release of Call of Duty: Ghosts this year as we are finally getting to see a new Call of Duty game made by Infinity Ward which doesn't have modern warfare labelled on the front cover.

Fans will be pleased to hear that the game is to be released on its usual month of November on the 5th like every year. Those who may be differing on whether to buy this years Call of Duty game I would advice you to buy the game as I feel it will be one Call of Duty you are not going to want to miss. Every year Call of Duty surprise us with a new experience to play but this year (2013) we are going to see an all new advancement in graphics and technology.

Here is a list of the sorts of things which you can expect when buying this game:

• All new game modes- Including Crank (If you have not got a kill within a certain amount of time then you explode) etc.
• All new killstreaks
• All new environment- Things on the map may start to move in real time as well as all new destructible objects on the maps.
• Squads (new game mode)- Allows you to create a 10 man AI squad to battle an online opponent with their 10 man squad.
• Soldier customisation- All new soldier customisation which allows you to customise your character to make them look more unique in multi player game play.

The all new Grand Theft Auto is out this year (2013) with an all new open world (Los Santos) for the gamers to do as they please, completing missions, cruising the streets or going into multi player mode to play with friends. There is an endless amount of fun which can be had on GTA V alone or with friends with the latest technology to bring to the experience with the next generation consoles.

This is the No.2 game this year (2013) in my opinion because the GTA franchise has never let me down with its realistic open world which allows the gamer to decide the paths which you take. After watching the latest multi player trailer for GTA V, I can honestly say that the online multi player side to the game looks exciting with fun around every corner. It doesn't matter if you have played all the Grand theft auto games or none of the Grand theft auto's because this is the game for you, whether you know it or not.

Here are the sorts of things to expect when buying the game:

• For the first time, get the chance to play as three different characters in single player mode including Franklin (former gangster), Michael (ex-con) and Trevor (violent maniac).
• The biggest world ever created.
• All new multi player experience.
• In multi player start a crew and cause trouble doing activities such as heists.
• Complete challenges for ground, sea and air vehicles.

Calling all fans of third person shooters, Splinter Cell is back, stealthier with more shooting than ever before. With a new story following Sam where he must stop a blacklist attack there are no restrictions as Sam kills anyone and everyone to prevent the attack.

With assistance from an echelon unit, Sams job is made that bit easier but with the threat ahead Sam must act with deadly stealth in order to take down his targets.

After playing the previously released Splinter Cell Conviction I was shocked at just how great the game was as beforehand I wasn't a fan of third person shooters. Whereas now I am a huge fan of Splinter Cell as well as third person shooters. It is clear that the latest Splinter Cell will have the same exhilarating excitement which the previous Splinter Cell had.

• Game feature- Killing in motion- Allows you to target multiple enemies and then take them out all at once.
• Game feature- Fully integrated experience which allows you to receive objectives as well as terrorist attacks in real time.
• Game feature- Build an Echelon- Allows you to build a unit with a supplied team which offers support when under fire.
• Operate without restrictions- This allows Sam to shoot and kill whoever he needs to in order to prevent another blacklist attack.

Battlefield 4 is the latest upcoming release this year (2013) for the Battlefield franchise. Its is currently the only first person shooter to ever come close to competing with the Call of Duty franchise. With its multi player open battlefields with large maps there's no surprise gamers are turning to the franchise with excitement. It is hard area in gaming to find success with first person shooters, with a huge market for this area, I feel that Battlefield has proven itself worthy of its success.

Each year we are seeing a new battlefield better than the previous which is why I am so thrilled to get the opportunity this year to play the latest in the franchise. One thing which always catches my eye with the Battlefield is the front cover as it is always so powerful as well as catchy. I realise that may be wrong as we shouldn't judge a book by its cover but I have to say the art work on the front covers for the battlefield games are superb, this years being no exception.

An exciting year for gamers with the upcoming release for the new generation consoles and I can see this being a very popular game especially with Christmas around the corner on its release.

Here are the sorts of things to expect when buying the game:

• All new exciting single player campaign.
• All new destructible environments.
• All new vehicular combat.
• Experience multi player game play like no other game with its large maps which take skills to survive.

The No.1 adventure franchise is back with its latest twist because now we are thrown into the world of pirates. I personally cannot wait to hold this game in the palm of my hand for the first time. Having been a pirate fan since I saw the Pirates of the Caribbean movies with the talented Johnny Depp aka Jack Sparrow.

I get the feeling that when playing this game all I am going to think about is the Pirates of the Caribbean movie. I'm sure that others will too or maybe that's just me, but still an exciting release this year (2013) all the same.

On the other hand in talking about the game itself, we will get the chance to play as the most dangerous pirates who ever roamed the Caribbean sea. With an open world with activities to complete as well as the story, there will be plenty of fun to be had in playing this years Assassins Creed.

With the return of the ship battles there will be the added bonus of fighting on sea as well as land. The ship battles was a popular element to the Assassins Creed 3 game and if you were like myself then I would like to see a whole lot more of the ship battles which I think this wish will be granted.

Ahoy mat-tees all aboard for Assassins Creed 4!

Here are the sorts of things to expect when buying the game:

• Game feature- All new as well as the best multi player Assassins Creed experience to date.
• Game feature- Become the most feared pirate in the Caribbean.
• Explore a whole new open world with an all new supply of activities to complete.

All Bioshock fans prepare for an all new battle fighting in the sky on a city of all places. Although a little strange, where would games be if there wasn't a little strange in there making. A master piece if I do say so myself because although I wasn't a big fan of the previous Bioshock games, this one was certainly a game which I had to complete.

A great suspenseful story which had a lot of full elements. I just don't know where the time went as when I'd started playing the game the sun was up, then when I stopped playing the game the moon had risen. This happens very rarely when I play video games so I guess that tells you just how good the game was.

An adventure like no other with a strange yet resourceful experience which I know I am going to have to repeat in redoing the game.

Here are the sorts of things to expect when buying the game:

• Move through time- Tear through time to shape the battlefield.
• City in the sky- The game is set in the city in the sky.
• Game feature- Whip, zip and kill- This allows you to use sky lines to slide and kill in thin air.
• '1999 mode'- After completing the game you will unlock '1999 mode' which give the more experienced players the hardcore experience in game play.

This is an unlikely release in my opinion as I wasn't expecting to see a Gran Turismo out this year. However not that its a bad thing, just a little unexpected with new tracks, I guess this will be the racing game of the year for me as I have not played a 2013 racing game yet.

There will be all new tracks, more cars than ever before with 1,200 cars and an all new and more realistic driving experience. If you are planning to buy this game, I would advise buying a steering wheel controller compatible with your controller as I feel this could be the best game that you have ever played using the steering wheel controller.

Straight under the title on its front cover it states, 'the real driving simulator', giving the impression that we are in for a great driving experience on the latest franchise release for Gran Turismo.

Here are the sorts of things to expect when buying the game:

• Course maker- Allows you to customise your own race circuit.
• Largest vehicle selection- 1200 cars.
• All new physics engine- Allows for the most realistic driving experience.

With all great comic superheroes there needs to be a great game which has certainly been created in this game franchise. With the previous two releases before Arkham Origins which are Arkham City (2) and Arkham Asylum (1) which were best sellers there is no surprise that we are seeing a third to this franchise being released.

This Batman game should be interesting as it is a prequel to Arkham Asylum, the first Batman game to the trilogy. It is set before the rise of Gothams most dangerous criminals which means that we are going to be in for a surprise with the story which will be told in this most anticipated release.

Become the Dark Knight!

Here are the sorts of things to expect when buying the game:

• Expanded Gotham City.
• Story is set 7 years previous to the Batman: Arkham Asylum game.
• The story is set before the rise of Gothams most dangerous criminals.

F1 is back and better than ever!

With F1 growing all the more popular there is no surprise that the games have began to receive more credit for gamers. The plus side to the increased popularity for the sport is the added amount of gamers who are turning to F1. This means more funding for the game which in turn means a more enhanced experience especially since this is the year (2013) for the next generation consoles.

F1 gaming fans will be happy to know that the game is going to get even better as well as more realistic with the latest graphics. We can expect more races, more laps, more cars and more to experience in this years F1 game.

• Play as all new legendary drivers- Such as Mario Andretti and Nigel Mansell.
• Includes Icon cars- Such as Ferrari and Lotus.
• Includes Brands Hatch- Former home of the Grand Prix.

Most successful football/soccer franchise returns!

This is the 2014 edition for Fifa with a new direction taken with the game to make it more realistic for the gamer. With the release this year (2013) of the new generation consoles Fifa have gone all out to create a virtual football experience like never before. The game has gathered a huge fan base with football/soccer being the most popular sport in the world it is up to Fifa to make the successful football life come to life in the virtual world.

Like before you can play as the different clubs choosing your favourite to take into the matches to win and take the club to a whole new league. It brings the football to your living room with an experience which you have never had before in any football/soccer video game.

It is exciting just thinking about this game as all Fifa fans will surely agree as this is the year (2013) when we can finally take the virtual experience to all new lengths with the release of the next generation consoles.

Here are the sorts of things to expect when buying the game:

• Game feature- Real ball physics- Allows you to strike the ball with more force.
• Game feature- Pure shot- Allows you to adjust your stride and approach angle.
• Game feature- Curving lofted through balls- Allows you to curl the ball around opponents giving a precise pass to a team mate.

Looking at 2013's best video game releases is a tough one, as there are always many great games being released each month, making it hard to calculate the ten which stand out from the crowd.

However it is our belief that these ten games offer variety in genres, and the general fun which can be had playing them. A video game in our eyes cannot be classified as great unless it can be played again and again, offering the same amount of enjoyment every time.
