Updated on April 20, 2015

Looking for an RPG's to Go Local?

Of course we love playing games on our own. But there are some times that we need to share a local co-op experience. I believe it has one of the best parts of gaming in general. Things like coordination, helping or ultimately having fun with other people in the game are simply unique. For that reason, I wrote this article to help gamers find a fun local co-op multiplayer RPG. Here I bring the top 5 PC RPG games with local multiplayer you must play.

1. Magicka

Some consider it an RPG others do not, nevertheless Magicka is really fun to play with a friend. Here you and your friends play as wizards. Your main goal is to stop the dark sorcerer that is infecting the world with evil creations. what I like about this game is that you are able to combine different elements to cast a number of spells as fast as possible.

You can play this game up to 4-player local co-op.

2. Gauntlet - This One is a Classic (2014)

“The good ol” Gauntlet is back! I remember playing this game with my friends for months!

Recently in 2014 a new Gauntlet was released. Although the game is basically the same, the instant you play the game an immediate difference is felt. And it is very nice! It is extremely entertaining and the new animations make it even better. There are a few new thing to discover and therefore you should give it a try.

You can play this game up to 4-player local co-op.

3. Hammerwatch

This one is similar to Gauntlet, but in a good looking 2D world. In Hammerwatch you can level up your character and solve interesting puzzles while dealing with the horde. You can play as four classes:

  • Warlock
  • Mage
  • Archer
  • Paladin

You can quickly learn the combat system but you need to be careful because you can die pretty fast! There are a lot of monsters and as you progress things become more and more complicated. Definitely need coordination for this one.

You can play this game up to 4-player local co-op.

4. Child of Light

Child of light is a masterpiece! A side-scrolling game with interesting rpg elements. I knew this was going to be a unique game even before playing it.

As soon as you enter the game you can appreciate the art of a hand-painted game. It is so relaxing to play this game. Adding this kind of touch to a game brings memories to me of the best RPGs ever. These are the kind of games that keeps me hooked. And there are a lot of RPGs nowadays, but only a few shine with this type of unique style.

The combat system is a turn-based with a combination of a real-time action which is very satisfying to play. With one character you can interrupt your enemy to buy the other some time in order to success at combat. It is like a race for who is going to attack first, you or your enemy. To get the most out of the battle you will have to plan ahead various turns of your enemies be victorious.

There is a character that you or your friend can play in co-op mode similar to a wisp called Igniculus. Capable of revealing hidden pathways, loot items, aiding in combat and healing abilities that are of help as both of you progress during the game.

Child of light has become one of my favorites and I recommend to give this game a chance to play.

You can play this game up to 2-player local co-op.

5. Fight The Dragon

A hack n’ slash RPG in which you can create your own dungeon or play dungeons created by other players. If you like creating custom maps or play those created already, then you must play Fight the Dragon. The developers made this world editor easy to use so even if you do not like dealing with map editors you can possibly like this one, you might be surprised how fun and simple it is to build a map.

To get the best experience of this games is best to play it in co-op mode. It will increase the pace of the game you you will have an easier time fighting with monsters.

You can play this game up to 2-player local co-op.
