My Favorite '80s Moments

Participating in Hands Across America

Auditioning for the school talent show. Me and my two friends lip-synched The Super Bowl Shuffle and dressed our Cabbage Patch Dolls as Cheerleaders. We didn't make it. :(

Getting my first Cabbage Patch Kid. He was a boy and I hated his name so I renamed him Joey. I also had a premie and a homemade Cabbage Patch Kid.

Dressing up as a punk-rocker for Halloween.

Learning to ride a 10-speed bike

My first perm. I'll never forget how it smelled!

That time of year when they played The Wizard of Oz on tv!

Lot of great (and sad) memories there. Some noteables you over looked were

      Garbage Pail kids

The tight roll (when you tuck your jeans into themselves to form a tight cuff at the bottom)

And ZOTS - No one seems to remember zots, but I loved em. They were a string of hard candies with fizzy stuff inside.

      Thanks for taking me back.

Thanks for writing Alastar & Realhousewife! Glad I could bring back some happy memories. I'll never forget the first time I saw a group of mothers trying to kill each other over the last Cabbage Patch Kid at the Toys R' Us. It only made me want the doll more!! I can't believe how crazy we all got over those ugly dolls!!

You've really covered that era so well here. Big Hair and Wheres the Beef..the 80s, because of you it can still come alive for us some. Thank you amymarie and I'm glad you wrote a little about yourself in those days too.
