What is Haugrud Pewter? Vintage Norweigian Art

Updated on February 27, 2013

Haugrud Pewter

Haugrud pewter is one of the many producers of fine pewter around the world. Pewter has been used all through history for functional purposes despite its lead content. Now in the 21st century, we use pewter primarily for decorating. Haugrud pewter is a Norweigian company who has been producing beautiful art since the 60s. Many of their designs are very common for a house that is going for a mid century appearance.

I have sold Haugrud Pewter on Ebay a few times over the years. People really love the design of it. The picture in this hub is one of the plates that I recently sold for $40! One of the items that is very popular for pewter is any wall hanger piece. This is because it doesn't get worn in like plates or bowls. It rarely gets dented or dinged either. It's very common for pewter to get damaged because it is so soft.

You can find Haugrud pewter at tag sales, estate sales, thrift shops, and goodwill stores. It is very tough to find them in good condition for a reasonable price though. Generally speaking, pewter can be total hit or miss. I have seen very nice pieces but the asking price is very high. I have also been to tag sales and thrift shops where they were giving it away because they just thought it was junk!

I hope you enjoyed this hub! If you liked it would you subscribe for more? Do you love treasure hunting, selling on Ebay, or just learning about cool vintage stuff?
