Quizzes should be fun, fun and even more fun!

As I mentioned in the last article, how do you make sure that anybody can win a pub quiz even if they are not as clever as the masterminds?

Obviously you need to find a way to even the playing field.

So how do you do this? This got me thinking a few years back. I couldn't just do The Weakest Link it would not have worked. So I looked to other game shows for inspiration and found the perfect one, Family Fortunes. I made this the last round to give everyone a chance of winning the quiz by giving a possible score of 50 points, more than the whole quiz up to that point. You do not need to know any general knowledge at all for this quiz round and it was more suited to your every day Joe not the masterminds. It worked a treat and not only that it is a fun game to play too.

It's very rare that I get the same team win two quizzes in the same month not just because of Family Fortunes but also because I vary my quiz rounds and questions so much. I do a picture round every week and I always come up with new ideas that you would never think of normally, for example, famous robots, what a wacky idea. Another picture round I came up with one day was famous cars, I got the pictures and they had to name the film or TV show they were in. Remember Knight Rider, Ghostbusters and Herbie?

Every week my third round is on a different subject and I try to vary this too by getting inventive. I do do the obvious Food and Drink, Science and Nature and The Animal Kingdom from time to time but I also try and come up with weird and wacky ideas for this round too. For example slogans, who said “I liked it so much I bought the company.” I'll tell you later.

I would say that if you really are serious about putting on a good fun pub quiz then you really have to be creative. Come up with fresh ideas, add bonus rounds right out of the blue, be unpredictable, think of fun and wacky quiz rounds and most of all crack a few jokes and have a laugh with the customers.

If this article has really inspired you then you really should take a look at my website, it has a lot of my Quiz ideas and questions there for you to use in your own quiz. You can actually download one of my fun pub quiz nights for just 1p so you can see for yourself what I've been talking about.

If you want to learn more I am writing a series on this subject, the next article in this series is here: How to make a quiz - part 1

If you fancy a bit of fun take a look at my next hub page, a Family Fortunes Quiz (Family Feuds in the U.S.) there is a prize to the person that gets the highest score.

What ever type of quiz you put on I wish you all the success in the world.

Thanks for reading.

Keep it fun.

P.S. The answer to the slogan was Remington
